What's new

It's gotta mean something!!!

The Jazz must out-tank the Lakers and Orlando for a chance to get into the top-3. You'll have to forgive me for not having faith that the odds will shine particularly favorably on the Jazz. If the Jazz are in the top-3 and Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid declare, the Jazz are in a no-lose situation. Lottery at all costs.

Parker staying in SLC because he's Mormon is overblown. Nobody seems to want to focus on the fact that his mom is a Utah native, that he's obviously got cousins and other family there, that he considered BYU strongly enough and that he's visited here numerous times. Mormon or not, those are relatively strong state ties, if I do say do myself, and goes to show that the whole "living in Utah" stigma probably isn't a huge deal.

Anything Chad Ford has said on this topic for the last 6 months.

Could be a clever smokescreen though. Jazz are good at that.

That's why I used the word 'reportedly.'

Reportedly means someone reported something.

Think you are working the word "supposedly".

The "Utah likes Parker the best" thing is just media making assumptions because he is Mormon.

Okay, Chad Ford claims that he is in contact with the Jazz FO and that Jabari is #1 on Utah's draft board. I consider this a 'report' and hence use the word 'reportedly.' However, it could be misdirection on the part of the Jazz FO. So take it however you want. You could also insert the word 'allegedly' if you prefer.

Defense and athleticism put Wiggins ahead of Parker as a prospect. It's better to have someone who can get easy shots than someone who can make difficult, contested shots. People have to respect Wiggins' athleticism and back off him enough that he can rise up and get a clean shot anytime he wants. My concern with Wiggins right now is that his handle is too lose. If he can improve his dribble, then he can bring his athleticism more into play and become close to unguardable.

I'll say it again that athleticism is the big boobs of basketball. Athleticism is pretty crucial up to a point, but you start to get diminishing return when it's not coupled with mental prowess (not just talking IQ). Not saying how this applies specifically, per se, but GMs like them big boobs. I think Parker will be the better player.

Every year there is only a handful maybe less of college players with both elite athleticism and elite skills.
They get drafted first.
After that players have one or the other.
So teams have to decide what is mort important when they pick a player.
Right now Jazz seem to have players with skills but no athleticism.
Jazz seem to need an elite athlete.

You forgot to mention that Wiggins has a much higher ceiling too.
