What's new

the ever-changing feelings about Enes Kanter

another wasted year. where we know nothing.

move along nothing to see here

I understand that you are trying to be funny. But, it is a wasted season because it was the year we went all in on our young core to allow them to develop. While keeping us in contention for a top 3 pick. Well, we only got the tip which doesn't cut it.

I still like Kanter, I never understood why some people are so quick to dismiss him as a scrub when he really doesn't play that much...while some of the other young players on the team have had tons of playing time and actually do look like scrubs, yet they get a pass? A new coach will do wonders to Kanter's development.

He is shooting 43% over the last ten games. He needs to finish the season strong or DL could ship him this summer.

I also like the improvements that I'm seeing. Big men take time to groom in the NBA. He's added post moves, a mid range chipper, and improved his floor awareness this season. If he keeps improving he could be a legit starting center. Hell if Memo can make the All-Star team their is no reason Kanter can't with development.

With Kanter, it's about his effort level. He knows we've been tanking all year, so I think he's been cruising a bit. When he focuses, plays hard, plays physical, etc. he's an impact player at both ends. His abilities are a bit limited, but he does a number of things really well--shooting mid-range, crashing the offensive boards, making the right decision on offense, etc. I think he's a legit 2nd option if he wants to be.

I agree with this. When you combine an off-season of rehab, with a regular season of purposeful losing, with a coach who struggled to define his role, you get what we've seen.

I'm not sure Enes will ever be THEE guy you want to run an offense through, but he can be a great 2nd option and garbage player.

Next year I want to see increased range and insane physical fitness. He needs to be stronger and work harder than everybody in order to have his maximum impact. Oh, and he needs to get into situations where he's practicing his vision/passing. Everyday.

He started the year pretty well individually, but the team went 1-13, so I think he backed off.

I think this is pretty representative of what he'll do when he's focused...

Wasn't this the game where Brook Lopez abused him? I feel like he didn't miss a shot that game.

Yeah, Lopez abused both Favors and Kanter that game and ended with 27 points. I was at the game. It made me think that ideally neither Favors nor Kanter plays center.

I think he will need right defensive system and coach to be used correctly and hide his weaknesses aka poor man's Boozer/Jefferson. Great offense/terrible defense. No matter his all improvements in last few games he is still almost dead last in all NBA in simple rating.

What strikes me the most is how badly his direct opponents outproduce him which is not surprising if you ever watched him getting abused by anybody he is trying to defend.
