What's new

He won't score 25 points in a game in this entire career.

But not necessarily seriously advocated.

Yeah, Eric, and not necessarily didn't seriously mean it either, eh? There were a fair number of posters who maintained that Williams wouldn't last 5 years in the league. Many more declared that his career would be mediocre at best. They coulda all just been funnin, of course, but they sho nuff didn't present it that way. Others thought the Jazz made a wise choice. It wasn't all one or the other.

Ok. We'll ask Hopper again:

Hopper. Do you believe that when these posters made these statements they actually meant them? i.e. That when they said "Deron will never score 25 points in a game" they in fact meant that statement literally.*

* Obviously I'm not admitting such statements were actually made. The question is designed merely to determine the correct interpretation of your original post.

EDIT: It appears that aint addressed this issue immediately prior to this post. Does that change your opinion of the issue OB? Does that make whether or not these things were actually said more "relevant" to your mind?

I aint no mind reader, Kicky, and I didn't address this question in a prior post. As with all Jazz draftees that I've seen discussed, Williams was dismissed as unworthy by some. It's Jazzfanz, eh? Ya know, the crowd that booed John Stockton's draft announcement?

Now we all know my recollection isn't perfect but I feel pretty comfortable saying that John Stockton was drafted well prior to the establishment of jazzfanz.

I actually think that many of the attempts to marginalize Williams and his potential were probably a product of the "scorn" those pimping for someone else felt when the Jazz didn't take their recommendations. Many of them seemed axnious to prove they were right all along, and if that meant minimizin Deron's talent, fine, so long as it tended to make them look smart. That's just a hunch, tho. But, as good ole Willy Shakespeare done said: "Hell, it aint got no kinda fury like a bitch scorned."

Heh, Kicky, nice try. Jazz fanz are Jazz fanz, whether this particular board ever existed or not.

How can a thread of this magnitude not have a post by CJ or Saltydawg? It is almost inconceivable. Hopper has solved the economic question on everybody's mind...how can somebody possibly pass the time while receiving 99 weeks of unemployment? Well of course besides licking his own groin.

Kicky and Bordy was moseyin down the street and seen a dawg layin there next to the curb doin dat once, eh, Pearl? Then it kinda wents like this here:

Bordy: I wish I could do that!

Kicky: Why doncha pet him? Mebbe he'll letcha!

Poor SJF.

I'm pretty sure that the reason he doesn't post anymore is because so many of his draft picks bombed.

I'll never forget how he wrote about Saer Sene.

Yeah, I think the only one worse at this draft thing is me.

On the bright side, at least Jarrett Jack is still in the league.
