Reality Bites: 52% Chance Jazz Pick 5th or Worse

Or thank the Jazz for collapsing against so many other teams. Jazz have the 2nd worst record since the all-star break. Even Boston and LA won a couple of games by mistake to damage their tanks. Would be unfortunate to win against Minnesota, so I have my fingers crossed. But if you were to tell me pre-season the Jazz would finish no worse than tied for 5th, I would have been overjoyed. I expected a 30-35 win season, with the Jazz getting a pick in the 10-13 range.

I called 24 wins preseason and thought we would end up in the 3-6 range. soooo I kinda did tell you. I hope you were overjoyed.

So the Jazz didn't better than Philly but worse than Milwaukee?

Sounds depressing.

I called 24 - 26 wins. Nailed it. I wish Trey didn't make that shot because we would be that much closer to a 60% shot at a 1 - 3. But, we have a 48% chance of a top 4 pick. We just need one lottery ball yo!

we could have used more optimism here.
as Stoked said it, 48% is the part we should concentrate upon.
Dynasty in the making baby!!!!

This all sounds like we will be picking either Gordon or Randle. Although I've been saying all along we'll end up with the #1 pick.

So you're saying we've gotta chance. It sounds like it doesn't matter anyways because DL is going to trade away our draft pick.

So, we have already seen Boston rebuild quickly through the draft via trades. Who would they be willing to trade their pick for? They already have Rondo. Would a pick/Green/Wallace for Hayward and Kanter be enough if they knew they could get Carmello this summer? That would give them:

Rondo
Hayward
Carmello/LeBron
Kanter
Sullinger

They Jazz would look like:

Burke
Burks
Wiggins/Parker
Favors
Embiid

How big of a homer am I?

Looks like a win win for both teams. I like that trade for boston if they really land melo/lebron and i love it for the jazz

First problem is that Boston does not have to trade wiht Utah to land Hayward. They can jsut outright sign him. Also how would cap space and salaries match up in any potential trade?

I know you know he is restricted so there is that. Real question is what is he worth now? I would not pay him anymore than 11 per and that is too much IMO. What would Boston offer? No way he gets near max now right?

I think ultimately we match anything and if the contract is considered an overpayment he is traded mid year ala nene. No way he walks for nothing.

If Boston wants to sign all those other free agents they need to convert some of their existing salary deadweight to Hayward. This can only happen via trade. If Boston is in the running for Carmello or Lebron, they can't be throwing 12 million of their clear capspace at Hayward. I just don't think Boston gives a lick about Hayward personally, however.

Yes he is restricted. Boston (or any other team) could just sign him for more than we want to pay. For a big market team willing to wade into taxes for a championship team they might. Hayward is a perfect player to place around a superstar, he makes those around him.

If you had money to spare what would you pay Hayward to place him around Lebron/Melo/Durant...

OK. I am uninfomred on trade scenarios and all that go into them. how would Boston trade for hayward though. They would have to convince Utah to do a sign and trade right?

Nearly every attempt I make at the Chad Ford ESPN Draft Lottery Machine, I get Parker, Embiid, or Randle for the Jazz, no matter where the Jazz are slotted. That reality does not bite.
