What About Reupping Sloan and Johnson?

Are they too far past their prime or could they teach the youngsters to quit jackpotting around and to not play in their tuxedos? Discuss
 
Yes, and while we are at it, let's hire Johnny Cash to play the halftime show of our 1st home game.
 
**** no. We are trying to move on from the old school way of thinking. We need a coach who understands the NBA now. Not to mention (though I loved Sloan as the coach for years) Sloan definitely does not have the fire to be a head coach anymore. The interest he showed in his last few years was a shadow of his former self. I just don't have interest in them as coach and there is no way that an analytics guy like Lindsey hires an old school coach that ignores that end of the game.
 
A fan walked up to Sloan the last game of the season and said, "Can't wait to see you on the sidelines again!"

Sloan replied, "Well, you're going to be waiting a *expletive* long time."

Not happening.

But Pop and Sloan appear to be cut from the same cloth and Pop is doing OK. Plus both are younger than Larry Brown and he had a good year at SMU. I know everyone wants moneyball and that's fine and if that is the route DL wants to take, Alex Jensen is sitting right there waiting to go. The plusses on any of the three is that you have a coach available now and ready to go.

I think Sloan taking a front office job with the jazz would allow Johnson to take the job without feeling like he's being disloyal to Sloan as they would both be with the same org.
 
How about Hubbie Brown? Larry Brown? Hey Adelman just retired too, maybe we can talk him into coaching Jazz?
Seriously, enough is enough, we need young fresh blood, not some old dinosaurs with dementia.

You can run the system without being old or new school. Johnson would run the same system and utilize it to the strength of the team. Sloan showed this when John and Karl left, and Williams and Boozer and Memo came in. I've always felt Johnson's coaching style was different from Sloans. Don't be so one dimensional in your thinking. Just because Johnson was Sloans main assistant for so long doesn't mean he will do everything the same as Sloan did.
