Wouldn't expect Jazz coaching interviews too soon. GM Dennis Lindsey and assistant Justin Zanik are scouting in Europe through next week.

More like interviewing Messina! He's ours. Calling it now.

does Messina speak english?

No, but that won't be a problem. Most of the NBA players don't, either. At least the kind you can understand in an interview.

Seriously, I'm sure Messina speaks English well enough. Most Euros can speak a few languages and English is usually one of them as it's often a required language in schools. And a bunch of them speak better English than people who were born in the U.S. At least that's been my experience from my travels.

Would be very interesting to look at the stamps on the passports of Lindsey and Zanik. Could be just coincidence, but the Jazz also have an international scout. I expect he'd normally be the one doing all the legwork; he did on Gobert. But in advance of the draft, Lindsey and Zanik may also want to get an idea of Neto's status and speak with his agent.

Jody should dig a little deeper and see when this trip was scheduled. Has it been on their calendars for quite a while, or was it hastily put together right at the end of the season? If the latter, then we know the real purpose is to have some initial talks with Messina.

Good post. I am sure that there are three objectives while over there. Messina, Neto and 23rd pick scouting.

Did someone really ask if he speaks English? Really! Really!

I would really hope DL is smart enough to only consider coaches that can actually communicate easily with players and management. Worst question ever brought up on jazzfanz

Wow!
