A few of you have met these people..... !

I got a call from a great friend, business associate (son of my biz partner), and just a very good dude.
(CLAY)

He let me know he took his family for dinner at Chili's this evening.

His young son got food lodged in his throat and couldn't breathe. 911 was called but EMT took better than 20 minutes to arrive.
Like any normal parents, mom and dad panicked with their little boy unable to breathe, turning blue...

But a guy was there. He jumped in and took charge. Keeping the boy alive by making sure he kept him conscious. I'll leave out some details as it's not our family's story.

This seemingly random guy was later found to also be our dear friend. Owner of the Peppers Cantinas restaurants. (Rich Rivera)

Sadly, Rich and his wife Jessica lost their newborn not many months ago (to, unbelievably, a breathing ailment). I simply can't imagine the emotions they went through.. and continue to with all of this.

But I am thankful to God tonight that His plan included such a wonderful dude to be there, tonight, when another friend was in need.

God is good.

I met Rich the only time I've eaten there and he seemed like a solid dude. I'm super happy to hear that everything turned out the way it did. Holy crap.

Wow. Praise God.

I've never met Rich, but Clay is truly a "salt of the Earth" type of guy.

Praying that neither party will ever try and explain away what happened and will know that it was God who was with them today, and especially for Rich that while there can be no Earthly understanding of what happened to his child, that God has NEVER left his side.

Matthew 10:29-31

Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

That's my friend right there. Great stuff.

Praise god? How 'bout praise Rich for being there and not panicking?

I believe in God.
The boy's father believes in God.
The guy that saved the boy believes in God.

Not sure why you find it necessary to tell any of us who we should and shouldn't be thankful to here.

You don't have to believe in God to be a good, moral and ethical person. In fact, most of the evil, unethical, immoral persons in the world believe in God.

Other than the insertion of the word "most" I don't disagree with this. Only because it's impossible to truly quantify.

God is good.

Indeed he is. And he sometimes works in mysterious ways. But mystery is only to us. Not to God. Nor the ones who are fortunate enough to comprehend the simple truth behind what seems like a mystery, or like a coincidence.

You know what, you're completely right. I was in the wrong.

I had just had a conversation a few days before with a couple of family members who happen to be a doctor and nurse and we were talking about this exact situation. My apologies.

No sweat. Thanks.

Whoever or whatever it is we choose to thank for the good things that happen, it's good to be thankful! And to feel you have something to be thankful for.

now, a question for PKM - YESTERDAY at the Bundy Ranch, TODAY at Chili's - - wonder where you will take us TOMORROW? And then there's always last week, next week, etc etc....

LOL :-)
