How come AK isn't given any slack?

Why are the Boozer jock riders the dumbest posters on this site? Is the answer to the question as obvious as the question itself?

One of AK's biggest problems with being consistent is that he doesn't have a go to shot.

This. After a decade in the league, he should have a couple moves/shots down imo.

Also, regarding his lower field goal percentage, AK is on pace for 164 three point attempts, the second highest in his career after 03-04 which not coincidentally is the season he had his worst field goal percentage (not counting this year). I'm not making excuses for him, I'm simply pointing out why is field goal percentage may be a bit lower this year.

I think you'll find that he's shooting especially bad from 2 this season (his 3 pt % is quite good so far, although it's declining fast).

People stuck on this "max player" garbage...give me a break. Worst in Jazz history? It's certainly overpriced, but the worst?
I think that you could make an argument for that.

AK's "true value" is probably $10 million per, give or take a couple of million. So he's being overpaid ~$8 million. That's tough to beat.

I agree that people do get too caught up in that contract and fail to see all the positive contributions. If he was playing anywhere else we would have 'fans' on this site wetting themselves over his play. I can just imagine the threads:

"We should totally find a way to get AK on the Jazz. His defense would help cover our front court deficiencies, he stays in front of his man and is long enough to trouble the Kobe and Lebron's of the league, he can handle and pass the ball and hits enough of his 3s to keep the defense honest..."

Give the guy a break. When he's on-song we are a balanced and far more dangerous team.

AK is what he is--a dynamic energy player who does a bit of everything. He's that Bobby Jones, Dennis Rodman, Bruce Bowen, Ron Artest type of guy who can make an impact on defense, keep rebounds alive and occasionally make a good pass and hit an open shot. He's a good player to have on your team. He's just not a max-salary offensive juggernaut. In 2004, people used to compare him to Carmelo Anthony, Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki. Now you can only compare AK to those players based on their salary.

If the Jazz had a dynamic and consistent scoring wing playing next to AK, they'd be real contenders. AK isn't going to change. For the Jazz to take the next step, they need to upgrade at the SG. Raja Bell and Ronnie Price don't scream contender to me, unfortunately.

AK does two things that irritate the hell out of me:

1) He settles for jump shots way too early on the clock. He's been doing that a lot more this year for whatever reason. Granted, his outside shot has seemed to improve a bit, but there are many moments this year where I just groaned seeing the Jazz down by double digits and watching him shoot a brick with 15 seconds left on the shot.

2) He makes awful passes that just kill momentum. Every now and then he does make a spectacular pass, but more often then not he'll make a pass that is an instant turnover when a regular pass would have done the trick.

Um, Friday night AK had 17 points (on just 8 shots), 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. But um, okay.

That line was a joke Krazee. He did have a good game against the Magic.

Let's look at the games right before that....
I didn't like his play against Miami. He had more fouls and turnovers than rebounds or assists.
How bout his game against Memphi,s 1-10? ouch.
He also put up a real stinker in the Dallas loss at home too. 5 pts, 4 boards, and 1 dime in 30 mins? That's a disgusting line from AK.
Last night 6 pts, 0 dimes? Gross.

Counting last night that's 4 un-"great" games, and one "great" one on Friday.
That's the problem with AK. He doesn't bring it everynight. Not even close.

Oh, okay. You won't hear any arguments from me.

When you get screened, you have to guard against the bigger threat. You think the bigger threat is Lebron James' formidable long-2, not his Malone-power and Stockton speed in the lane?

Yeah, he's calling you the idiot.

Why is James automatically getting into the lane? Is there no help defense now? No show on the pick for him to go around, no sag from other defenders? Has James' jump shot become unreliable this year?

Giving a reliable shot to a decent/good outside shooter is a good result for any offensive set. Why just give it away by going under screens? Yes, the wide-open shot is a bigger threat than driving through traffic. If it wasn't, James would never take them.

AK takes a lot of games off.

He did not take off any of the games I saw, but I only get to see a small number. Somethimes he was not involved in the offense, but the defensive effort was there each time.

.416 efg% on jumpers, .680 efg% on inside shots, 16.9% foul drawing percentage. You go under the screen.
