How come AK isn't given any slack?

Did I hurt you, pwecious?
No, not at all. AK is the second biggest reason I'm a Jazz fan. I was just giving an appropriate response to your idiotic and fallacious argument.

There are plenty of reasons to conclude that AK hasn't performed well this season. His lack of consistency the most obvious. While it's clear that, on average, AK is a much better player than Ronnie Brewer is/was, despite Ronnie's weaknesses, you could always count on him to bring consistently high effort every game. AK takes a lot of games off. It's extremely frustrating to me, since AK has shown in the past how great he can be when he applies himself.

AK and CJ are wildly inconsistent. It's tough to watch. It's nice that Raja has come around since his poor start to the season. Hopefully his consistent focus and effort rubs off on our more talented wing players.

Can you think of 4 or 5 games where AK seemed disconnected on offense and defense enough to strongly impact the game?

Not since Deron to CJ Miles in the 2nd half last night.

Haven't seen last nights game yet.

Can you think of one before that?

I got one from Deron to AK against the Lakers, but thats about it.

We don't oop nearly as much as we did last season.

I'm more on your lines of thinking but I think maybe TICC is seeing AK having a positive impact for the team but that he could be having an even bigger positive impact like last nights game for example.
But I could be wrong, it happens.... a lot.

I'm not sure what qualifies under these conditions, but he's played poorly on a number of occasions, including:

@ Denver
@ Golden State
v. New Orleans
v. Dallas
v. Memphis

Are you arguing that AK brings consistent focus and effort every game? Wow.

Just to clarify, I've been a HUGE AK backer in the past, and still think he's a very good player (although obviously overpaid). I've gone to bat for him frequently. That doesn't change what seems to be a pretty large discrepancy between good AK and bad AK.

Also, AK and CJ's respective consistency issues highlight each other, making both look worse. When neither player has a good game, it's hard to ignore the suckitude.

Watson oop'd to Evans several times this year. Also, Elson had an alley-oop against the Mavs, then spread his arms like Jason Terry. We got waxed in that game though.

Oh, and AK has been the recipient of an alley-oop every few games.

Of course not. But Jefferson, D-Will, and every other Jazz player has had crap games. The first few games of the season DWill looked frustrated, then disinterested. Jefferson took a while to get more comfy, and against the Mavs he was terrible in the first half. Sap has blown a few games. Big deal.

That's where I'm at for sure.

Also, poor shooting is especially hard to ignore, and AK has been terrible this season, his hot 3 streak at the start of the season notwithstanding.

In the 16 games before last night (the games since Millsap's 46...after which his shot attempts plummeted), AK shot under 40% while attempting over 9 shots per game. ick.

Wow so much what not in one thread -

I agree with all those who've noted that AK can't be judged rationally by most because of his contract.
Revolution 9 - no one who says "AK is playing great" thinks he's in a league with Dwade, Lebron or Kobe... the question is he if he's playing great for AK or not?
"Irregardless" is not a UTAH thing really, it is a local radio guy thing PK who says it as part of his schitck. ANd its been adopted here at JazzFanz

And AK has been playing well. I would even agree that it is great in AK terms. He does have inconsistencies BUT THAT IS A DESCRIPTION THAT APPLIES TO ALL NON-SUPERSTARS (well, i think Hayward has been consistent... but we are talking about significant contributors) To be consistent is to be good. If you are better than everyone else then your game is more consistent.

AK had a great game last night. As Fanz i think we'd rejoice.
