The above statements are also applicable to pro coaching.I think AK has been given plenty of slack... Millions of slack if you know what I mean...
I wish I could have been a pro basketball player.

. . . except to not let the pusher push him around. Without fouling back.Saying that you want your team to foul more is dumb. If the ref is going to let one player push around and elbow his opponent, there is not much the pushee can do about it . . . .

The truth is AK is overpaid.
AK's play has not been great this year. He is losing his athleticism and is no longer the defender he once was. His three point shot is falling, so far, but his inside scoring has fallen off a cliff. He no longer gets any alley oops or tip-ins like he use to. He has stayed healthy, that might be the best thing you can say for him this year.
I hate to see people discredit themselves by saying he played good D on Lebron. Lebron embarrassed him, elbowing him and pushing him around like he was a wet noodle. AK did not even foul him...he was scared or just gave up. Not sure which one.
OH MY GOD! Someone using Production rather than On-Off? I don't believe it.His own-vs.-opponent's production +/- is second only to D-Will's, and he leads the team by far in (lowest) opponent's production.

Sounds about right.
Yes, because the discussion was referring partly to individual defense.OH MY GOD! Someone using Production rather than On-Off? I don't believe it.
Yes, because the discussion was referring partly to individual defense.
Look at Jefferson's and Bell's on-off relative to that of the other three starters, who are doing well in spite of such a +/- setback.
More evidence here that Miles should get more minutes (but benched when he's overshooting), and Bell should be used more selectively.
And it's nice that AJ is slightly outscoring the other center, but the on-off is a better indicator for help defense.
Miles and Millsap are the only Jazzmen right now with both positive individual Production and On-Off. In PM's case, that's mostly effort (and off-season prepping). Miles gets the benefit of playing some of his PT against the backups.
Recall that Bell and Jefferson, both bottom-feeders in terms of +/-, admitted that they came into the season underconditioned. It shows.
Top 10 lineups based on +/- per minute, in descending order, as of December 10:
*Williams-Bell-Miles-Millsap-Fesenko
*Williams-Price-Miles-Millsap-Elson
*Watson-Williams-Miles-Millsap-Jefferson
*Williams-Miles-Kirilenko-Millsap-Jefferson
*Watson-Miles-Evans-Kirilenko-Fesenko
*Watson-Price-Miles-Elson-Fesenko
*Williams-Bell-Miles-Millsap-Elson
*Watson-Williams-Kirilenko-Millsap-Jefferson
*Williams-Price-Miles-Millsap-Jefferson
*Watson-Price-Miles-Kirilenko-Jefferson
Bell is in only two of them. So is Kirilenko. CJ is in all but one of them.
Inference: give Miles more minutes; give Bell or maybe AK fewer.
(Both have averaged notably more MPG than Miles.)
Elson or Fesenko is in five of the lineups; Jefferson is in five.
Inference: Give the bigs more PT; it's working more often than not.
(Not asking for the total bigs' minutes to equal Jeffersons'.
But a combined 20-25+ MPG on most nights for the near-7-footers would be more effective in many ways IMHO.)
Not since Deron to CJ Miles in the 2nd half last night. When have the Jazz had an alleyoop this season?
No, not at all. AK is the second biggest reason I'm a Jazz fan. I was just giving an appropriate response to your idiotic and fallacious argument.Did I hurt you, pwecious?

There are plenty of reasons to conclude that AK hasn't performed well this season. His lack of consistency the most obvious. While it's clear that, on average, AK is a much better player than Ronnie Brewer is/was, despite Ronnie's weaknesses, you could always count on him to bring consistently high effort every game. AK takes a lot of games off. It's extremely frustrating to me, since AK has shown in the past how great he can be when he applies himself.

I'm more on your lines of thinking but I think maybe TICC is seeing AK having a positive impact for the team but that he could be having an even bigger positive impact like last nights game for example. Can you think of 4 or 5 games where AK seemed disconnected on offense and defense enough to strongly impact the game?
