Glad you caught that softball..
Strangely, I agree. NONE of our players right now scream STAR!! alot of them scream PRETTY DAMN GOOD...we need a couple more than pretty damn good. Swing for the fences as he said. Obviously dont get rid of everyone, but neither Favors nor Trey are honestly all that special. We, as Jazzfanz, like them and see potential. But I think it isnt in the cards for either of them to be more than above average usually, great sometimes. We HAVE to have more than that.
"Because there’s so much potential talent in this draft, the draft picks will be very valuable commodities," Lindsey said. "Maybe we just use it in a different way to get to the ending point that we want to get to."
You can book it. The Jazz will not be keeping their #23 pick.

Kanter, Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Evans, Gobert (plus 3 team options for borderline NBA players (clark, thomas, garrett)WE have depth
I'm down or trading anyone if it gets us Wiggins or something. But people in this thread are talking about trading half our core for...Randle?
Kanter, Favors, Burke, Burks, Hayward. Favors, Gobert, the #4 pick, the #23 pick. That would be 9 players PLUS Neto, Evans, any FA's we may bring back (like Marvin). My point is exactly as you've stated: solid NBA contrbutors, maybe a couple of borderline all-stars. What is the eventual celilng of the team...50 wins? Maybe a 2nd round exit? At some point, depth has to be traded for quailty. You only need a core of 8 players, especially during the playoffs. The other 5-7 positions are easily filled with rookies and cheap vet FA's.Kanter, Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Evans, Gobert (plus 3 team options for borderline NBA players (clark, thomas, garrett)
I wouldn't call that depth. You might call it seven players with potential to be solid NBA contributors, a few with potential to be borderline AllStars.
Yes, I agree my "Book it" is hyperbole. Of course, DL isn't going to say we're definitely keeping or definitely trading a pick. But I just don't see Utah bringing in 3-4 more rookies (counting Neto) on top of all the ones they've brought in thus far. I just find it interesting the Rigby, Lindsey and Perrin have all alluded to using our assets, finding stars and all-stars. If there isn't a trade it means the price was too high. If there is, it means the Jazz are taking the next step in their rebuilding phase.Quite a leap of faith from "Maybe we just use it ....." to "book it" DL has been saying all along that there are many options. Could you imagine DL saying "we are keeping the 23 no matter what" because that is all that is ruled out by his statement of optionality.
None of our core players have been busts so far too, which when looking at other teams you can't say the same. It looks like we are above average at drafting.
