Should shelly sterling keep her share in the clippers?

okay so enough of the Donald side.
this thread will discuss the Shelly side.
and the sexism.

do you think she should keep her share?

do you think if sterling is forced out, the players should play for shelly?
what are your thoughts

Butch, what's your agenda here?

just an honest discusion about divorce and womens rights.
i mean she has been married to him for 55 years
so in part she is responsible for clippers Succes(i assume)

so why dopes she not get to keep her half.
why wont players play for her

I think it would be best for the nba, the fans, and the sterlings for them to just sell the team and let the clippers and nba just move on and start fresh.

Sterlings get buttloads of money, amd the nba gets some fresh new owners. Everyone wins.

Of course the sterlings will fight like crazy not to sell and this will drag out for years.

First, having been married for 55 years, you have to ask how far apart they are on their views. If the players also want Shelley out, it's probably based on personal experience. So, I'll wait to see how the players would react before coming to any personal judgment.

There are a few different things going on here:

It is my understanding that NBA committee has the ability to decide to eject any owner from the club with a vote. Everything else doesn't really matter. If the other owner feel the both or either Sterling affect the value of the league they may vote to oust them.

If the players are serious about not playing, then they would force the other owners hands.

I don't understand what legal leg Sterling thinks he has. If the contract he signed to be a part of the league has a provision for the other owners to force him out, then I just don't get it.

I don't see how Shelly matters in this discussion.

And I support their right to fight it with legal recourse.

I do too.
With all that Magic Johnson has said, it's evident the NBA agenda is for him to step in with his ownership group. But the players have signed contracts. They're getting paid. Not one of them has ever complained about "working conditions." And now the NBA is trying to force Shelly out by saying she wasn't approved as an owner by their committee. Hey, knuckleheads, I've got news for you. In a divorce court she'd get 50%. So by the very fact that she's married to Donald, she's a 50% owner. Let's see any judge rule otherwise.

This will be fun to watch. If the NBA wants the Sterlings out, they'll have to provide them with some nice golden parachutes.

And did you see who they appointed as CEO? The guy has a corporate "rap" sheet a mile long. He's overseen some of the biggest frauds in US history.

If the players seriously thought this was a problem they would have staged a walk-out on the team and the nba years ago for not doing something about it. They care enough about racism to make public service announcement, but not enough to, you know, actually do anything.

Star player: "Racism is wrong, and I will stand up and say it is wrong. And to prove how serious I am, before I go out there and earn my $427,000 for playing this playoff game, I am going to stand here quietly and not salute the flag. Yes I am that serious. Not gonna even make a sound for 30 seconds, maybe a whole minute. Because racism matters that much. Then of course I will go out there and play, because playing is my way of showing how much I disagree with our team's owner, and making him more money by winning a playoff game is the best way to show I disagree, and of course cashing the check later myself is more of my way of showing how strongly I feel about his racist comments."

Can't shed any of the millions for such a worthless cause I guess.

agree.

but i migt be mistaken but dont the players play playoff for free.

eg if they make the playoff or not their yearly salary does not chance.

All 16 playoff teams receive bonuses. It is up to the teams how to distribute those monies among players, coaches, trainers, etc. In 2013, the Miami Heat earned $3.8M in bonuses. On the low end, four teams were paid $194K.

aah thx

learned something new.

thought like they get paid x amount per year. if they play 1 game due to injury they still get the same.
so assumed if they played 110games(4 game 7's) they wouldl pay the same.

did know about all star bonus though

I was thinking about this more from the standpoint of suspensions. If a player is suspended they "lose" the equivalent pay for one game, same can happen if they refuse to play, at least the way I understand it there are such provisions in most contracts. I believe the same applies during the playoffs. So players who really cared about the issue could refuse to play, give up their pay or donate a game's worth of pay to a related charity, and do something substantial to show their outrage.

Or they can just say "ain't nobody got time fo dat" and go about business as usual.

It just seems to me that beyond lip service they aren't really that concerned about the issue.
