What's new

The Lakers, Kevin Love and the Utah Jazz

I dig the outside of the box thinking of the original post, but yeah, I'd rather just keep the guys we have and hopefully add a top 4 pick to it. I think a creative coach can get more out of Kanter and Burks.

I agree.

I agree

Burks, kanter, and 23 for budinger and randle?

Burks and budinger are pretty even as players, but i give the slight edge to burks (with burks having a lot more potential than budinger)

Kanter and randle are pretty even, but again i think a slight edge goes to kanter (potential being pretty even)

And we just give em a first round pick in one of the deepest drafts in a long time just for the hell of it?

No thanks

Smart man.

You're crazy if you think that he has reached his ceiling at 21,

This.
Burks is 22
Kanter is 21

The reason teams end up in the lottery for 10 straight years is because they draft talent and then let that talent walk or be traded before they reach thier potential.
Then the players they drafted end up being good players for other teams..... and the cycle repeats.

When randle is 21 and and only averaging 12 pts and 7 rebounds in 27 minutes per game then are we just gonna trade him too cause he isnt an all star already?

Gives these guys a chance to develop before throwing them in the trash

I'm going to look at those websites and Kanter. Interesting stuff.

I will say this, if any of you are expecting value out of #23, you're probably going to be disappointed. Odds are, our 23 pick either never comes to America, or spends most of his career in the DLeague.

In a typical draft you are right.

This is not a typical draft.

Another quick question:

Does anyone think that the Lakers won't have Love this fall and the Timberwolves have the Lakers pick?

I would be more interested in just trading for Love.
Kanter, Burks, #23 for Kevin Love.

I think you would need to either have him wave his early termination first and sign an extension as part of the deal or pass on the early termination so the Jazz had him for 2 full seasons to prove they are a good long term fit. Not sure I could bring him in with just the 1 year left on his deal.

The pick is the only real asset the Lakers have.

If Love really wants to make the playoffs then he should go to a team in the EC. That way he can have a losing record and still get there.

Hi BYU fan

Nuff said

Again, you making assumptions like this. I just can't take anything that you type seriously. Why does liking Jabari make me a BYU fan? Jabari is a freaking talented young basketball player, so I would definitely be ecstatic if we got him on the team. I've already wasted enough time replying to you.

Because Jabari is a Mormon. When all else fails and you don't have much quality stuff to argue, reach for the Mormon, BYU, you-love-Mitt-Romney-because-he's-Mormon schtick.

Agree. I'm not expecting a starter at #23. But I AM expecting a solid rotational player. There are quite a few players in that range who can be 10-15 min backups in the league.
