Many years? Try 3, or 2 depending on when the Jazz want to sign Gobert beyond his rookie contract (eligible after his 3rd year. If they are going to be as good as we want them to be, we'll have to pay them, and we'll also need to develop them all of them are still raw. The Jazz drafting Vonleh or Randle is either short sighted, or admitting they ****ed up by letting Sap and Al go.
We are a basketball team. We need more than bigs. Elite wings are the most important position when you're trying to win titles. Jazz need to put their all into getting some. In today's NbA, pace is another thing that is very important. The Spurs and Heat are some of th fastest in the league, and they run because it's smart. By running, they leave themselves with more time in the shot clock (where shots are made at a higher %), and they get to bypass a lot of really intricate halfcourt defenses. Having nothing but bigs makes you slow. As far as bigs go, the ones we have are faster than most.
People are sour on our bigs because our rotation last year was: Favors, Marvin, Kanter, Evans; so naturally we struggled defensively and w/ boards.
Our rotation next year of Favors, Kanter and Gobert won't have the same problems associated with being undersized.
I firmly believe our bigs should be set, and any additions should come via FA on MLE, or 2nd rders).
We need a defensive PG who can attack the rack and push the pace. Smart meets all these requirements.
Or,
We need a wing w/ elite skills. A. Gordon fits this bill. Both have comparable upside to Vonleh, and more than Randle.
