Following potential 2014 draftees

Anyone else think highly of Elfrid Payton? I think he could be a steal at 23, but it looks like his stock is rising and that he'll be gone just before the Jazz pick.

Lead the NCAA in total turnovers (127) and turnovers per game (3.6).

Had a great workout at Sacramento and Chad Ford said he is in play for the #8.

Don't think he falls past Chicago at #16 or #19, won't be available at #23.

.

Porzingis getting a lot of buzz lately. May not last until 17 now.

I think I could make a strong case for Porzingis in the Lottery, his athleticism and fluidity are no BS, hes very quick off the ground.

There's no doubt in my mind that hes a better prospect than Willie Cauley-Stein. I'd contend once you get past him playing a little weak while being ~210lbs, there's really not all that much to complain about.

his size is legitimate, not official #'s but he appears every bit of 7' in shoes (doesnt look more than 2" shorter than 7'2" teammate Ondrej Balvin), hes the 3rd youngest player in this draft. Kristaps has some SF moves in his arsenal too

https://sportacentrs.com/basketbols/legionari/01062014-porzingis_un_cajasol_parspej_specigo_vale - This move at 1:10 is nice for a 7'er. Cutting down the baseline from the corner, a catch in traffic into a reverse/ fadeaway

I like Elfrid Payton, his story is crazy since last summer, he gets snubbed from the Chris Paul Camp. signs up for "Sports Reach" instead, a traveling ministry that uses sports as a platform to share the gospel. (Oladipo and Peyton Siva were on the team the previous summer)

On that trip one of his coaches realizes that Elfrid was young for a sophomore and Eligible for the u19 tournament, and it just so happens that Tyus Jones just dropped out, so one of the coaches was friends with Billy Donovann the U19 coach, who took Elfrid on the team without watching him, just hearing about him from the friend.

He beat out Ryan Arcidiacono, Kris Dunn, Damyeon Dotson, Javan Felix and Rodney Purvis for a spot on the 12 man roster. He then beat out Nigel Williams-Goss, James Robinson, Michael Frazier and Justise Winslow for a spot in Team USA’s starting lineup.

By the time he dropped 9 points 6 rebounds and 5 steals in the final vs Serbia, 'NBA exec types' were calling up his coach Bob Marlin asking how this kid got to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Id gladly take him at 23, He has a history of playing up to the competition, his outside shot is by far my biggest concern, but hed be a great change of pace from Burke, Elfrid gets into the lane easily. Hes a Jr but was born in '94 within a month of Joel Embiid

Agree with Ellis.

Even with Karl and John, two of the biggest stars of their era, the Jazz were never able to add enough quality depth to put them over the top.

You don't make two finals in a row without having good depth.

Not that it really means anything, but David Locke seems to think that Orlando will for sure draft Marcus Smart.

Wow.... can't believe Coach Cal just turned down $80m... if true that's impressive commitment to UK...

Either that or he's trying to get the Lakers to offer more.

Yeah, I would take the Cavs job in a heartbeat. Worst case scenario is your disappoint and they fire you after 2 years, but you still get a paid in full.

Yah this.

Your reputation won't even be dented that much cos the blame would probably be on that mad owner. He can prob. still go back to UK with $80m richer. No brainer.

I wouldn't give up next years 1st to move up for a player this year, regardless of pick, the Jazz are only a few injuries away from a really bad season. Its too much risk for me, id hate to see this site during a ****ty season with no draft pick.

Do the Elfrid Payton supporters think he will develop a better jumpshot than John Wall? Im not very confident in his shooting.

It took me a while to find a 1st round PG, with a 26% or similar 3pt shooting rate the season prior to being drafted. Even D. Rose, Westbrook, and John Wall were all around 33%

Rodney Stuckey could qualify, but hes really a SG. I keep seeing PG's i think might be near 26% but its not the case, even Mardy Collins shot 30%

The last PG i could find with that sort of % was Rajon Rondo in 2006, Their FT shooting #'s are both Mid 50's in college aswell

thats my main concern with over-drafting Payton, Rondo went 21st. I dont give 2 ****s about his turnovers compared to the shooting.

This.

We're kidding ourselves if we think we're gonna make the playoffs this year. I suspect it's another 'tank' year with the Snyder hire.

I could see us around the #9 spot (in the draft). I wouldn't expect another 'tank' year, we'd have to trade the whole team to get another top 5 pick.
