What's new

The Official Enes Kanter can be a stretch 4 thread.

I like the idea of kanter being stretch 4. He can definitely shoot 3. No more corbin to stop him from shooting 3. I expect huge improvement on him, since he will have bb activity this summer unlike last year. hopefully on defense

I still cannot believe that there are professional, top level competing head coaches in the NBA who limit their players from doing a certain thing, like shooting 3's. My basketball mind is limited. Enlighten me. What are they thinking? Is it something like "Hey you play Center/Power forward. You can't shoot 3's because then there would be no one else to rebound." or something?

He will contribute a few points from beyond for sure. But if his shooting style especially preparation stays as slow as it is, then he won't have many uncontested shots and it does look like he will have trouble making shots that are contested very little.

He makes several shots in a row ( i cant tell if its the nba 3 or not, but still)

but as long as he can hit it well enough so his man can't sag off him, isn't that a key part of being a stretch four? bringing a man out of the paint?

Ways you know something in this thread is way off and it's therefore worthless in its' current state.

1. Thread title. It should've read The Official Enes Kanter can be a stretch 4 but still be God awful on defense thread.
2. Youtube clips provided from years ago when Kanter played lights out vs. a chair.
3. The OP.

He shoots just under 40% on 2s outside the paint over the last 2 years... Not horrible but doesn't knock your socks of either. We can expect him to be in between 30 and 35% ish is my guess. Also don't post shooting in an open gym as evidence of a great shot. I'm a rec ball player and can shoot about 75% on threes in an open gym if I'm allowed to shoot one after another.

I'm not saying he can't hit the three... I just think we severely overstate what he can do based on the evidence so far.

How does that "just under 40%" compare to say Chris Bosh, Kevin Love and Ryan Anderson? Bigs who can stretch the floor. I'm genuinely curious and would love if you could post the data.

I think his point is the delivery is so slow that you will be able to sag off him and still recover... Not like he's going to blow by you on a drive.
