Jazz have "zeroed in" on Jabari Parker

Too much. Can't give up Burks.

I'd rather draft Exum/Gordon at 5 than give up all our picks + Burks.

What would we have to give up for a potential top 10 player in the league 5 years from now? (if that's who we think Parker can be)?

Exum has that potential as well, and he could be there at 5 w/ us keeping all of our assets.

If A. Gordon's FT's are coming truly coming along, his ceiling is infinitely higher than Parker's.

Not to mention Burks' own potential (26.1 pts w/ 10 FTAs per game per 40 in college)

Or the player that the GSW pick could net us. GSW will be falling apart by 2017 draft, because of their books, and ages of certain key players. That could be a really high pick, in what is starting to look like a promising draft.

I'm not sure Parker merits that much risk. Good player, but will he be that good?

How the **** is that a win win? It looks to me like we'd be getting screwed. Just like w/ Burke, we'd be giving up a lot of assets for an overrated player. Jabari is not Lebron, Pierce or Melo. He is Jabari ****ing Parker. A 19 yr old kid who won state a couple of years in HS, and averaged 19 pts his one and only college season. Un-****ing-proven! He doesn't even have the upside that some of the others in this draft have. Exum has higher upside than him, and we're supposed to get excited because people are talking giving up Exum, Burks, and really good picks we bled for, just to nab him? If this is really the plan, DL is clearly not the man I thought he was. His value is being inflated by his religion, and not his skill set.

There is so much I disagree with about this post. But the fact that you think his value is overrated due to his religion is just ridiculous. He is top three in every mock draft, and rated as one of the best prospects by every gm in the league. There has got to be something other than his religion behind teams reasoning for wanting to draft him that high. Maybe it's because he can actually play basketball, and will probably the next Paul pierce or Carmelo Anthony?

I don't think the GS pick will be all that great. So would you trade: Exum, draft picks... for Jabari, OJ Mayo?

Well it's certainly more risky taking a punt on Exum/Gordon. Jabari's scoring is sure to translate in the NBA there's no question about that.

Burks therefore is your 'insurance' money in a way.

Wow man no reason to bring religion into this. If you can't see that Jabari is going to be good then you are delusional.

I'm not bringing religion into anything. It's always been there. This is Utah.

I've always said he would be good, and he was a player I wanted. But, he is not in the same tier of prospects that Lebron or KD were, and thus I don't think the package Kkk and others are promoting is merited. His value is inflated by his religion.

I agree that it's too much to give up. I'd probably do it for just the picks though. If you truly think that he will be the offensive star that most expect then it's worth that price IMO. He's unproven, but you have to take the leap of faith. If he were proven, there's not any amount that the Jazz could pay to get him. Three 1st round picks is worth that. I think that Burks will be a very, very good player, so I'd prefer to hold on to him until they know exactly how the players they have fit together.

Wouldn't draft Exum unless a deal for Parker was done. Just not a fan.

Well he's not LeBron, or KD or even Carmelo, but by all accounts he should be a young Paul Pierce.

Id do it for the picks.

I'd do it for Haywuss (if we could trade him).

I wouldn't do it for burks. He's the 1 player on this team who can be a star. He would be our Westbrook to Jabari's Durant.

No. He'll be Jabari Parker, a good young player that will still need to make his way in the NBA.

Comps are very misleading. Jabari hasn't been an all star or won chips. He isn't without flaws.

I think that goes without saying. There's no need to pretend we're not desperate for Parker. A deal will get done when both parties are happy with what they've got - whether or not we're desperate is irrelevant because we can also say no to a deal no matter how "desperate" we seem.

There's wiggle room in most negotiations. If the other team doesn't think their leverage is as strong, they are less likely to try and bleed the other party.

There is no upside that I can see to seeming desperate in a negotiation and I have no idea how you drew the conclusion that it could be.

What would you be willing to give up for James harden? How about Damian lillard? Parker is going to be at least as good as those guys. Think of it that way, and hopefully you will see why giving up burks and some picks is worth it to get a sure fire all star.
