Favors not included in Cavs trade talks

To me it sounds like front office gave orders to spread the word that Favors wasn't apart of it to save face because Cavs are keeping the pick.
And/or to bolster their position by being withholding/walking from the table. It's all part of the same thing.

Here's what I think has happened.
1. Jazz and Cavs were in serious discussion over the trade. Jazz likely initiated the conversation.
2. Jazz offer was, indeed, Favors, the #5 and the #23.
3. Cleveland countered with Favors, the #5 and next year's unprotected. Why? To save $ this season and to get an almost certain top-10 pick next year.
4. Dennis did not want to give up a completely unprotected pick so he offers Burks instead.
5. Cleveland gets miffed and leaks the trade info to the media.
6. Utah is LIVID that a leak has occurred. Remember how IRATE KOC got when the pre-season AK deal was rumored and then fell apart? Lindsey is cut from the same cloth. He's a professional who believes discussions should be kept between team officials until the handshake has been made and the FO's are just filling out the paperwork.
7. Cleveland throws out Orlando and Philly possibilities to pressure Utah to up their offer. And who knows how accurate those were? They could have been offers Cleveland made and didn't get past the first 30 seconds of the phone call.
8. Lindsey has now told Cleveland to take a flying leap, scolding them for their looseness in disclosing private conversations. Now he has to kiss and make up with Favors.

4. Dennis did not want to give up a completely unprotected pick so he offers Burks instead.

The #5 + Favors rumor surfaced four days before Burks' name was ever mentioned. For whatever that is worth, I guess.

Rigby said Favors was working out with Neto yesterday on 1280 this morning. I thought it was big of Favs to be doing so with trade talks. Dunno what to think. Cavs using us makes sense.

Neto hanging out with the bigs while Burke is home chillaxin'.
Neto = #hungry
Burke = #content

Neto isn't even on the team yet and he's already our hardest worker.

Right. That's why I'm saying the original offer was Favors, the #5 and the #23.
When the teams reached an impasse re: the #23 that Utah wanted to give up vs. the non-protected pick Cleveland wanted, an alternative was suggested by Utah (Burks, a #12 pick who you could say has top-10 value). However, Cleveland doesn't want a player who is due a huge raise after next season.

Bro. None of us know the details. Chill.

Agree. I just thought NUMBERICA had misunderstood my post and was trying to clarify. I apologize if I sounded abrupt.

And I can't chill...I'm all wound up over the US/Germany match.
This is CRITICAL for the future of futbol in the USA. Scoreless half has everyone on the edge of their seats. You can almost taste the excitement. And Portugal has Ghana in a death grip. They're up 1-0 and it's almost impossible to come back from that kind of a deficit. Win or tie by US and tie or loss by Ghana sends the US to the next round! ;)

In fairness to Burke, when Neto is in the US, where else is he going to be? I don't think he has another home here. And it doesn't mean Trey isn't working hard.

Also to his defense, didn't he meet with Quin shortly after he had been hired at the Jazz' practice facility?

Listening to Locke talk about this... How was Favors not a part of this? I call BS.

In other news let's say its correct that Favors is not in this trade. Would you do #5, our unprotected pick next year and Alec Burks for Wiggins?... or I guess Jabari.

I will tell u what happen. Dan Gilbert want to draft Embiid with no backup planning. He is very stupid man like this. When Embiid gets injured Gilbert is freaking out and start making all sorts wild offers to Jazz, Orlando, Philly. Gilbert cannot draft he knows this so he need sure thing in Embiid.

Locke was so emphatic about it during his podcast today. He brought it up at least three times. Also, Spence Checketts is regurgitating the same thing on Twitter. I think the Jazz are in damage control mode since this deal fell through and want Favors to think he wasn't involved.

SPOILER ALERT!

OK, I can now chill. US lost, but they advance anyways. So after they choke in the final 30 secs against Portugal and can't manage at least a tie against Germany, they're through to the next round. But only because USA sucked less against Germany than Portugal did. Ain't soccer grand? At least there have been goal differentials to resolve ties. It's going to be embarrassing one of these Cups when a team is sent home after losing a coin toss.

Even though I'm still a proponent of the trade, I won't be upset at all if Favors and Burks stick around.
