Agree. We're WAY under the salary cap. Hayward can get a big raise and the Jazz would STILL have a MAX contract slot available. Money really isn't an issue for another 4-5 years. Even then, Trey (or Alec) might be disposable/tradeable but we'll need to re-sign Gobert. Hayward will be back. Jazz likely present him with their final offer he refused last summer. It's a good faith gesture since he had such a horrible season. Hayward will shop around for a bit. Really, though, nothing much happens in free agency until Decision 2.0 and 3.0 (Lebron and Carmelo decide what to do). Then the "losers" may scramble to put together offers for Love.

Yeah, people tend to forget that lebron, carmelo, bosh and some interesting restricted FAs are on the market. Teams will be afraid to commit 12mill a year to Hayward at the start of free agency. The Jazz can use that to get some leverage early on. The risk is that a team that misses out on a marquee FA may want to overpay for Hayward or other second tier FA (it only takes one team)

I think he's going to be offered in the 13 to 14 million range. And the Jazz will match.

New coach this year. I'm not sure Hayward was used properly last year. he was asked to do too much. I think Burks will start this season and help take some of the ball handling and scoring pressure off Hayward.

Anyone who doesn't want Hayward is a complete and total retard. The only thing bad last year was his shooting and all that needs to be done is a minor tweak in the way he shoots and he'll be fine.

Bunch of impatient hyperbolic self entitled twats who want results NOW. Cry more you little bitches.

What if we don't want him if he's overpaid?

I just want Hayward to fix his shot selection and his balance when he shoots. Hopefully he can fix it. But usually guys fix their shot when they improve it slightly each year. I haven't seen it improve each year. I have seen UPS and DOWNS and either staying the same or getting worse. Maybe he shoots better if we have more help around him. Hopefully Burks starts next year so it will take some scoring pressure off Hayward and give him more open shots and more energy.

I think Hayward is worth $7-9 million but he will get paid a lot more for two reasons. One being the Jazz have a ton of cap space and Hayward is a RFA so some team is going to over pay him to call the Jazz bluff.

I wouldn't pay more than $11million and I think that is way overpaying. The Jazz drafting Hood should slightly reduce Hayward's leverage but in the end I think the Jazz will match any offer between $10 and $11 million.

Jazz fans should realize the more they pay Hayward the more they are going to have to pay other players. So if Alec blows up this year and has better stats than Hayward, why would he be willing to accept less? So overpaying a specific player can lead to financial ruin down the line. I know each player is separate but you can't tell me that NBA aren't competitive against each other financially.

Agreed. If he wants more then 11 then I say try to work out a sign and trade. Everyone keeps saying......."Sign him even if he wants 12 or 13 million. We have the cap space."
The problem is we might right now. but we will be won't in 2-3 years if we are paying Hayward like he is an all-star while playing like a role player. Iggy gets that money because he is a lock down defender. Hayward is not. And Hayward kind of struggles at the 3 position and guys over power him or shoot over him. I am not sold on the dude for that much money. 10 million a year I think is plenty for what he provides.

Sounds like you are the one doing the crying.

Who doesnt want him?
I think everyone would love to have him for 8 million or less. I doubt anyone would want him for 16 million or more.

its all about that contract holmes

Seriously if anyone gives Hayward that amount of money then they can have him. The Jazz would be dumb to pay him that much money. He should be a #1 option for that type of money and a 20 pt + scorer.

I think 12 million should be the absolute maximum we pay.

10 million sounds about right. (Maybe a tiny bit much)

Anything less than 10 and i am happy.
