Neto Not to Play in Summer League

https://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

Speaking of Neto, the Brazilian point guard will return home to his native land to participate with his national team in the next couple of weeks. That will prevent him from participating in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Jazz next month. The Jazz, team sources say, are still high on Neto, whom the organization traded for after Atlanta drafted him 47th overall in 2013. Coincidentally, Jazz coach Quin Snyder, then a Hawks assistant, was among those to be impressed by the 6-foot-2 point guard last year. Utah hasn’t made an official decision about Neto for the 2014-15 season, but it’s most likely he’ll return to play for his Spanish team, Lagun Aro GBC. Despite the addition of Exum and last year's acquisition of point guard Trey Burke, the Jazz still have future plans for Neto. Boo. Would rather have Neto as the PG back up over Lucas and Garrett.

This is good. Jazz need to get Exum as many minutes as possible at his natural position. I wish Burke were sitting it out as well.

Garrett >> Neto

Based on what? Maybe you are right but we don't have any real way of knowing. Personally I'd like a depth chart like this:

Favors/Gobert/Tomic
Kanter/Evans/Williams
Hayward/Hood/Williams
Exum/Burks/Hayward
Burke/Neto/Garrett

That's 13 players and a ton of versatility on that team. There are 6-7 guys that can play more than 1 position. Allows for a bunch of potential line up mismatches to exploit.

(I'm assuming that the rumors are correct and they just resign Hayward and Williams)

You really think Tomic would come over just to play spot minutes for a bad team?

If the Jazz buy out his contract and bring him over does he really have a choice?

Err, yeah. If he doesn`t like what he hears from Snyder, he can just stay. In Europe, players actually have a choice where to play, even though they are under contract.

I'm sure Marvin would be thrilled to re-sign here and be relegated to third string behind an unproven rookie drafted 23rd.

If the goal is to create a long time duo of Burke and Exum in the back court, they better play as many minutes together as possible.

Why would that be the goal? Exum is a PG (I had my doubts until watching him play full games - he is indeed a pure point and if he's going to be great it will be as a 6'6" PG) and Burke certainly isn't a SG.

He has come out and said that he is very open to returning to Utah and that he enjoyed his time here. I'd trust that him and his agent can look at the roster and make logical assumptions as to his playing time.

For example: "While Bartelstein seemed more than optimistic about Hayward, an NBA source said Williams has enjoyed his time in Utah and is "open and willing" to returning to the Jazz. His being an unrestricted free agent makes things more complicated for Utah — as are various reports pegging Williams as being a wanted commodity by title contenders, such as the Miami Heat" - Salt lake Tribune

Jody Genessy: The Jazz hope to re-sign RFA Gordon Hayward and UFA Marvin Williams but aren't expected to be overly active in free agency, per sources

So all I was doing was trying to do is create a realistic roster from the current rumors.
