Neto Not to Play in Summer League

He has come out and said that he is very open to returning to Utah and that he enjoyed his time here. I'd trust that him and his agent can look at the roster and make logical assumptions as to his playing time.

Yeah, I'm sure they'd logically assume that he'd go from 25.4 minutes a night on relatively solid play to a bunch of DNP's.

Fine:

Hayward/Williams/Hood.

Happy? Quit nitpicking over the smallest detail. If you have a better scenario that is realistic by all means...

Err, yeah. If he doesn`t like what he hears from Snyder, he can just stay. In Europe, players actually have a choice where to play, even though they are under contract.

I really don't know how all that works so I won't pretend to.

I just thought that if the Jazz bought out his contract and brought him over that he had to come. Guess I was wrong.

We have no trades in European sports. If you buy out a player from his contract, you have to agree to a new contract with him. He can deny the move and stay put if he wants to.

Oh, now we backtrack. Okay, my point is, as others have eluded to as well regarding Neto and Tomic, that we don't need to go 12 deep. You listed 13 guys and 12 of them should be getting decent minutes. There's 240 minutes in a game. IMO, the time should be allotted as such, with diverse 5-man rotations to see what works. The 10th-13th guys (I say 13 because we typically just keep 13-14 guys) can ride the pine and be content with collecting a paycheck and being able to say they're NBA players.

Burke (32)-Exum (16)
Burks (32)-Exum (16)
Hayward (32)-Hood (16)
Kanter (30)-Favors (6)-Evans (12)
Favors (26)-Gobert (22)

If we suck, we suck. Who cares? We get another high draft pick but at least a year from now have a pretty good idea of what these guys are and what they aren't. Enough screwing around. Get the core major burn.

If the goal is to create a long time duo of Burke and Exum in the back court, they better play as many minutes together as possible.
The goal is to also stagger contracts. I think it's a good idea to let Neto play in Spain one more season. Let's see where Exum is at and give him 30 mins/per. He's supposed to develop into a franchise-level player. It will take a few seasons to get there, but he needs 15 mins behind Burke and 15 behind Burks. There's simply no minutes for Neto right now.

After this year, the Jazz may come to a decision on Burke and Burks and where Exum best fits.

I didn't backtrack a single step. If that's what you think happened then you don't know what a backtrack is.

I am fine with what you have. I was just posting a realistic roster based on current rumors. Some of which I have gone on to list in this thread. As for the "if we suck who cares?". It's not like I was saying that is the team I would want to compete for a championship.

So once again, focus. Based on current rumors those are the players I see Utah going after. It is a realistic scenario. (probably minus Neto based on rumors) If they land them that would be the roster. I just threw them in a depth chart. Snyder can set any depth chart he wants.

Good rotation.
WE need to find a core 8/9, then have vets and/or draft picks to fill in for injuries.
Are the 3 bigs, Kanter, Favors and Gobert? Maybe. Only one way to find out.
Are the 3 guards, Burke, Burks and Exum? Again, only one way to find out.
Can Hayward transition to SF with Hood as the backup? Let's play them and see.

I don't really consider Evans a major part of the team moving forward. Would rather see Utah bring in some one with good size as a PF/C. Then fill the rest of the team with either vets or development players. JLIII is a decent mentor who requires zero playing time. Maybe Murphy has promise as a stretch 4. Might be room for Marvin in a greatly reduced role. Would have to shave off a few minutes here and there from a few players to give him 15-20. And of course, there are always injuries. So really, mins/per on average may add up to 250-260 if you just sum all the players.

Why would that be the goal? Exum is a PG (I had my doubts until watching him play full games - he is indeed a pure point and if he's going to be great it will be as a 6'6" PG) and Burke certainly isn't a SG.

I don't want to disagree, but during the year last season it looked like Burke was playing a lot of SG, at least offensively. Pairing him with a bigger guard like Exum, or even Burks allows flexibility and the opportunity to create mismatches. I like the idea of the other team not knowing who might be running the offense from possession to possession, and not knowing who might be guarding who on each possession.

This is good. Jazz need to get Exum as many minutes as possible at his natural position. I wish Burke were sitting it out as well.

It sounds like they will experiment with Birke and Exum in different lineups at SL. With one starting or both in dif games.

Maybe this paves the way for this guy to play Summer League. He was Rodney Hood's PG at Mississippi State:
Dee Bost, the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star finished the season with 15.2 ppg, 8.6 apg, 6.1 rpg and 2.0 spg. Bost also led the league with 5 triple-doubles.

Since you've joined this board you've been a ****. Not sure why. Try developing a relationship with the members before acting like a complete jerk.
