Cavs offer Gordo MAX deal (maybe)

Sounds like the Cavs organization may still be pissed about that Boozer offer sheet 10 years ago, even with a different owner.

Well, we're still stinging over the loss of Matthews after Allen tried to screw us over with the big bonus to Millsap.

Cavs just paid Irving 6 years 90 million. That's 15 million a year.

They're gonna pay Hayward more (per season)? I don't think so! That would be half the cap for those two. Not happening.

Good point. If I were Irving's agent, I'd call the Cavs and tell them they better up the offer to Kyrie if Hayward gets $16M/per.

https://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/...-maximum-offer-sheet-gordon-hayward-utah-jazz

"The Cleveland Cavaliers are hosting restricted free agent forward Gordon Hayward for a visit Wednesday and are preparing a huge offer sheet to try to pry him away from the Utah Jazz, sources told ESPN.com.

The Cavs, who have the ability to clear as much as $20 million in salary-cap space, are believed to be willing to start a deal at the maximum contract number of about $15 million per season."

If they want to pay the dude $15 a year then I say go ahead. I hope the well runs dry for the other teams and we get some deals. That or DL screws the teams who want us to relieve their cap space.

^^
Juts rehashing what was already rumored and has been denied by other reporters. Let's see if this MAX deal ever materializes.

I think the reason that makes Hayward so interesting for the Cavs is he can play multiple positions. The Cavs want to start Andrew Wiggins at SG and Hayward at SF, but may switch them if things go wrong.

I get so confused by this multiple positions talk. Hasn't Hayward played an overwhelming bulk of minutes at the sg position for the Jazz? This despite their efforts of attempts to get him to play sf?

Why would Wiggins/Hayward be different. Than Hayward/Burks? Think Wiggins wants to come off the bench for 4 years behind Hayward?

Just go away Gordon. There are plenty of gamers in CLEVELAND. A wonderful life awaits you there. May I recommend getting a place out of the city, way out of the city.

Geesh..why the hostility. Wouldn't we all want to get the most $$$ at our jobs.

Trust me, in corporate america the best people don't always make the most money.

I personally think all this max talk is his agent.

My guess is Jazz sign in at 12/year. we'll see.

I'm rooting for him.

What are the odds Hayward even makes the All-Star team in any year of that deal?

A max deal for Hayward would legitimately be the worst contract since the Hedo Turkoglu trainwreck.

5 years is the max number of years, correct?

Hayward and his agents are idiots if they sign it without talking to the Jazz first

This. The cavs give him an offer sheet and he takes it to the Jazz. The Jazz either tell him they'll match it or give him an alternative that they can stomach better and maybe he'll consider.

Huh?
Cavs aren't going to give Hayward an unsigned offer sheet to show to the Jazz. Gordon either signs their offer or he doesn't. If he and his agent lie to Utah and say the Cavs are offering the MAX and they didn't, they'll look pretty foolish. There have already been some media denials about ae MAX offer. Could have been a bluff to see Utah's reaction. Doesn't appear Lindsey took the bait.
