Jazz acquire Novak from Raptors

So long as he never, ever starts or plays more than 20 mpg, this is a great pick up. A good bench/role player. Corbin would have started him over Anthony Davis because he's a veteran. So glad he is gone... I don't think Snyder will play veterans at any cost, at least I hope not.

DL is not trying to assemble the best NBA2K roster with insane talent from man 1 to man 15 on the team in the history of gaming. He's trying to construct an intelligently built roster that offers versatility and many options for Quin

This.

In watching summer league on nbatv. The bottom said trade update. Utah SENDS A 2ND ROUND for Novak. Wtf?

Let's keep it simple:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:

You will never win a championship paying the max to a soft wing who cannot shoot, like Hayward.

Agree or disagree?

Btw, Stan Van said just a few months ago that Hayward was worth $6-8 million per year. Do you think that you know better?

So keeping Hayward automatically means the max?

If you are teaching a system that relies on shifting the ball to the open 3 point shooter, you are going to want to get at least one guy that can be relied upon to hit the open jumper, if even for practice purposes. Ideally you may want a couple.

We have a 14 page thread on Novak? He's a bottom of the bench player, who cares?

People praising this move, and slamming this move, are stupid. This basically means nothing, we just wanted the draft pick and needed to spend money on somebody. That's it.

I don't think we have a bad roster in terms of defensive abilities. I think its the scheme from Corbin that made us look so bad. His scheme and getting players on the same page. Development in those areas are huge.
To be determined but at the beginning of last year I don't think anyone thought we were going to be one of the worst defensive teams. I would bet we greatly improve next year.

Outside of Favors and Gobert, who on this team would you call a "defensive player"?

"My goal is to become one of the best defensive players in the league someday," Hood said Friday.

Smiling, Snyder replied, "I’m going to remember, Rodney, that you said you were going to play defense."

How many of you buy it? Can he turn into a 3 & D guy?

I like the pickup of Novak for his 3 pt shooting, it was needed even though I'm sure most of you wanted Jimmer on the Jazz instead.

Like has been mentioned by some, I'm worried about having a lack of defensive players on the team and hope we can still pick up one or two players that can play D. I don't know what Snyder's scheme is going to be like but I don't want to rely on one where we have to hide weak defensive players night in and night out. I understand sometimes you have to, but I would rather shoot for not having to do so.

We have young players on this team who have never been thought a good defensive system. Can you honestly say you think these guys have been given a chance to be a great defensive team? Corbin may have been the worst coach in the league so most if not all defensive liability falls to him and his schemes, rotations and basic ineptness causing most of our deficiencies. It's been said many times by David Locke and Dennis Lindsay that his best effort to get a better defensive team was to slow down the ball and walk it up court play at a snails pace to limit possessions. That's craziness my friend. We have no idea how good defensively this team could be with a great defensive coach who hopefully teaches responsibility, and gives them a plan for rotations and everything else that goes into being a great defensive team not just a Guy who has no idea what he's doing and resorts to just telling them all that they are a bunch sucks and our only hope is to play the slowest team ball in the league.

Trey Burke and Enes Kanter are likely to start, so.......
