What's new

I'm in Vegas with Archie.

He probably wasn't nearly as scared as I was. When he was on his back there he was probably wondering if I broke his elbow. Both guys I faced I submitted with a americana and their elbows both snapped hard enough that I could feel and hear them. I was for sure I broke this guys arm though. He said it started to swell and he couldn't move it very well. It's a terrible feeling actually. I hope he's ok because he was a super nice guy as were everyone else I talked to.

I applaud you for your efforts in this, and I can relate about hurting someone. In high school I competed in a few open form tournaments. In one I had a pesky fast guy that kept running by me and hitting me in the ribs, gaining a point each time. It was pissing me off I couldn't catch him or really land anything because he was quite a bit faster than me, so the next time he tried the move, I swiveled backward and hit him square on the forehead with a pretty solid backhand as he ducked to pass by me. The shot was solid enough that through the hand gear it cracked a bone in my hand and bruised my hand pretty bad, and he went straight to the mat. They brought in the med team, put a colar on the guy and called an ambulance. I bruised like 3 vertebrae in his neck and cracked one. I felt terrible. I was actually glad they DQ'ed me for the tourney and I didn't compete again after that. It sounds all tough to talk about kicking people's asses but when you really do hurt someone it feels like crap. I never saw the guy again until after my mission and we kind of reminisced, he didn't hold any grudges. Luckily he didn't have any serious damage permanent, but it did end his tourney days as well.

The last tournament I was in before this one was last August, and I got subbed by that same move, and it shredded my UCL. Me, my opponent, and the ref all heard it pop and we all stopped and were like, "Ah, damn". It still gives me issues a year later.

I was a little excited, sue me.

There really isn't a better feeling than subbing a guy in one of these tournaments, especially on your first one. I got a sub my first ever match (haven't had one since, bah!) and I have not experienced anything nearly as satisfying in my life. Sounds kind of stupid, but I guess you just have to experience it to know what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure why Troutbum hasn't posted his videos from Grappler's Quest, but I'm going to. He should be more than proud of himself. The guys he faced are dudes I have nightmare's of and they both had fits dealing with Trout. Not to mention both of Trout's arms are beeped to the point that he's having surgery on both of them soon. What a badass to go out there and face off with giants and not even complain once about his arms (I found out how bad they were after Grapplers Quest.) I'm proud of you, boo boo.

I don't see how anyone does this and is a good sportsman about it. I tried wrasslin when I was a kid but did not have the temperament for it. I can box someone and be a good sport but some dude putting his sweaty leg around my head would piss me off. I also don't like when dudes try to hug you.

For the record I'm not trying to be disparaging in any way. You both would probably clean my clock in a boxing match.

I know exactly how you feel. I would have thought the same thing before I ever got into the sport and I'm amazed how different it is. When I play basketball, volleyball, softball, or anything in a competitive league, I usually zone into the games, get really serious, become a dick, occasionally talk **** and back in my early 20's a bit of a hot head. I would expect, with my competitive nature to be somewhat the same when it comes to grappling. But I'm completely different. First off, 99% of the people are the most nice and sincere people in the world and check their egos at the door if they even have one. People half my size can totally destroy me in a matter of seconds and it's completely humbling. This is why I like it. It's competitive and demands respect and humility.

Ah well, it was still damn fun.

I was very good at wrestling when I was a kid. Had that wiry strength with speed and a good reaction time. But right when I was getting ready to go to highschool and join the wrestling team my family moved to the south where there was no wrestling team. Lame.

Wasn't tall, big or fast enough for basketball, football or track (only choices).

Gay porn auditions.

You too?

I could have swore I saw you motorboat when that guy put his *** in your face. I couldn't choke back the gag long enough to watch it again to verify.
