What's new

My analysis: Utah the Cinderella team of 2014-2015

All I ask for is to have the team fun to watch, fun to follow and no stupid "can't understand for the life of me" coaching and GM decisions. I'm excited for next year.

I think a 12 win improvement is asking a lot in the West. I think we get about 29-30 wins. That's a 4-5 win improvement which sounds about right considering how young and raw we are, and how we have virtually no true vet leadership.

We are better than that.
You are better than that.

Last year we were tanking and ty had one foot out the door.
This year we should start out fully healthy, with a new coach, a max player, and burks, favors, and kanter should all step up a bit.

You all heard it here first, I'll just leave it at that.

I hope you're wholeheartedly right and this team proves your predictions.

It was Corbin. I already knew from the start he was going to suck as a coach..

And no, I didn't make a thread like this last year.
I had the Jazz at 30-35 wins. Still think Utah was fortunate not to get there.
1. Burke's injury
2. Hayward and Burke joining the stone mason's union.
3. Favors hurt from time to time
4. Jazz team not buying into Corbin's systems and just quitting the last 1 1/2 months (well, except for Jefferson and Trey).

I don't want to trample on a man's grave but how do you buy into a system that doesn't exist?

I'm not sure we'll win more than 35 games, but, damn, this team is gonna be fun to watch. I probably had more fun watching yesterday's game than most games the past 3 seasons.

Lead from the helm by Quin Snyder, in Juwan Howard's words "We gonna shock the WORLD!"

WCF . Call in it right here. Right now. I think Quin is the master coach we've always. Yes, ALWAYS needed and he's going to get this entire team behind him.

Buckle up gents!

I figured it out. With the closing statement "Buckle up". The fresh prince is actually our very own Craig Bolerjack.

Jazz were already a play-off team under a "normal" coach in 2013-14.
Play-off participation is very probable but Jazz lost some veteran ontribution in RJ and Marv.
so are they better now with the addition of Exum, Hood and Booker?

Seeing how quickly this thread deteriorated within the first 3 posts, I won't bother to read through the whole thing.

I too am excited about the potential of this team...starting this year. I have a very good feeling about Quin Snyder, which is not something I've been able to say about a Jazz head coach for...well...ever. You knew what you were getting with Sloan, for better or worse. But his coaching style never gave me much in the way of anticipation. And Corbin, at his very best, was lackluster. At his worst, he was just plain turrible.

If Quin Snyder is the teacher, the development-minded, and the defense-focused coach that he's supposed to be, then this very team can become quite good very quickly. If passing and playing defense get you playing time, and the players know that, then this young group can become special in relatively short order. We will find out this season, or at least get a strong indication, whether or not these players were just not coached properly.

I believe Quin will get the most out of these players. And while I don't think the Western Conference Finals is realistic this year, I believe a strong first round series is in the cards. I could see a gritty and exciting Jazz team extending a first round series to 6-7 games before losing to a much higher seeded opponent. If they can somehow sneak out of the first round, I see them losing in the second round. Either way, they won't be back in the lottery this year and they will have given both the Western Conference and the NBA at large a major shot across the bow as a team to be reckoned with in years to come.

Snyder is going to take us from dead last to first in 3 point attempts and makes. SHOCK THE WORLD!

They'll improve 4-5 by virtue of not tanking the first 15 games. Growth on top of that is what's in question.

Organizations win.

Strong from top to bottom.

I like what I have seen so far.

Hopefully we extend Burks & Kanter by end of October.

Otherwise I feel the MAX Hayward contract may be a bit of dissension....we'll see.

If he comes out kickin butt, he can silence his critics quick.
