Stockpiling 2nds and time to spend

The fact that people are semi-criticizing the trade and saying the picks have no value are being ridiculous. The guys we traded had literally zero value to us and even if Felix stinks, we just got a 2nd round pick and a million bucks for them. Depending on where they fall, many of these seconds could be packaged to move up for a very high 2nd or even into the late 1st from a team who doesn't want a guaranteed contract.

This was a very good trade.

let's trade Lindsey for a worthless second round pick. we just dumped three players for one and another worthless second when we need to fill out our roster. wait Hayward and booker just eat up all of our cap room that we have been bragging about.
Felix was the 33rd pick (fringe 1st) and is considered a "3 and D" prospect. He was injured for most of last season.
Booker is a productive sub: good rebounder, decent mid-range game.

Yes, I agree. Dump Lindsey because Thomas, JLIII and Murphy should have gotten us Durant, or at the very least, Westbrook. I mean, we are trading THREE players for one.

This trade is awesome. I don't know why anyone would be against it. We traded our most worthless player, a late-season bench signing and Thomas (showed a bit of potential) for a great defender, $1,000,000 and a 2nd round pick. The $1,000,000 covers the salary for Felix and we get a 2nd round pick.

How is this a bad trade?

Some just think trades aren't good unless they're one-sided, or bring in big-name players.
Hard to fault Lindsey for most of his move thus far. I don't really like the Hayward match, but I understand why he did it.
The Stokes trade? Very minor. Kicking the can down the road a couple of years. Probably wasn't a Euro they liked at that point.

Gobert and Hood are absolute STEALS where they were drafted.
Neto might be a good backup PG at some point.
DL apparently made a fair offer for the #1 pick, but didn't budge when Cleveland allegedly wanted too much.

Utah has a GM who knows what he's doing.

I think 90% of Jazzfanz.com members are happy. The remaining 10% will be happy when they see Felix on defense. Guys like Bruce Bowen and Matt Barnes were under-appreciated when they came in the league until their defense became known. I can't wait to see Felix play. I don't expect a lot offensively but that's not why he's in this league.

Plus we got a 2nd round pick and enough money to pay for Felix. And we traded crap (Thomas has some potential but we have more of a need at SG, bench-wise and defensively). And as another member stated we now have a spot for Mouton (pick-and-roll specialist - could help our PGs in certain situations) - didn't need Murphy because Novak is here.

This trade was one sided. We (I believe) had no intention of signing those guys anyway. If we did they surely would not have played unless we were down by 30 in the 4th(even then maybe not).

DL got a 2nd and a million bucks for scrubs he was going to cut. How much more one sided can it get?

But we gave up THREE players and just got back one. Cleveland should have given us Wiggins for that $1M salary dump.

Every irrational fan in this thread.

And BTW, I agree completely. It's amazing how everyone WANTED to get rid of JLIII and most were completely underwhelmed by Murphy in SL. Thomas had a decent showing, but was he going to get minute over Hood at the 3 or Booker at the 4? Why NOT take a chance on Felix? Could turn out to be a very good "3 and D" guy. If not, no big deal, he takes up a cheap roster spot for two years (or can be traded or bought out).

I believe the Jazz might find the next Euro star ala Tony Parker or Ginobili with one of these picks.
They say the Jazz have a lot of scouts around the world. In Turkey too? Turkey would be a great place to look! We have a lot of young prospects up and coming, so-called "The Golden Generation". Kenan Sipahi 95, Furkan Korkmaz 97, Okben Ulubay 96, Metecan Birsen 95, Egemen Guven 96, Ayberk Olmaz 96

Since when did we need to fill our roster? We didn't have any spots to fill. Also we traded 3 players who were not going to make the team for 1 who probably will and a future pick.

Philadelphia had a bunch of picks this year. They made some moves here and there, but essentially had the opportunity to get K. J. McDaniels, Jeremi Grant and Russ Smith on non guaranteed contracts - plus a couple of draft and stash type guys. Draft as best you can, bring them to summer league. If they work out, great. If not, you try to package them into deals and pick up another asset to use down the line.

This is exactly why I'd have kept Stokes. If he looks good, keep him or trade him for a better asset (not a worse one down the line) or just cut him and save yourself the roster spot and money.

So in the next 4 years we have possibly 5 first round selections and 10 second round picks. I don't know if teams would be willing to give up much if they knew that those picks are not of much value to us as picks.

Hoarding a limited asset increases the value of the asset to those who do not possess it.

Give me Nikola Milutinov, Moussa Diagne, Andzejs Pasecniks, Wang Zhelin or Mam Jaiteh and Jerian Grant, Dwayne Polee Jr or Michael Qualls with the 2 2nd rounders next year. (though Polee and Qualls are a bit redundant if Felix sticks around)

With the 4 in 2016 ill take Rysheed Jordan, Rasheed Sulaimon, Alex Poythress and Tacko Fall.
