What's new

anny preppers round these here parts???

I have no alts, never have. I can't fathom having the time or energy to create and support completely separate and fake personas. I wish I had that kind of energy.

What do you guys prep for mostly? War? Bankruptcy? Natural disasters? Armageddon?

You would probably prep for all of those situation in a similar way.

Weapons, food, water, shelter, valuables, medical supplies etc would be good things to have in each of those situations.

I had just typed a long response to this and it vanished somehow. Makes me think I was telling too much...

You mean UGLI and his friends?

What a boring answer, see PKM's answer.

But seriously, what I was trying to ask(which I couldn't make it clear), what do people in the US and particularly SLC prep for mostly? I believe it would be mostly for a possible financial crises or primarily for natural disasters.

But to be honest, the trigger that made me ask was the fact that I have recently studied the Antichrist subject and I had no idea before that so many Americans really believe in Armageddon/Antichrist/Gog and Magog etc stuff and actually prepare for the End Times.

For me personally i think the most likely situation to occur is the financial meltdown

This and its ensuing rioting/looting. Also chemical/bioterrorism.. pandemic.

And im not staying home... not practical to protect 5 kids and a wife from hundreds or thousands of looters.

Trout has gone with me to very near where we will call our interim home during times like these. He said something along the lines of, "Holy ****, I couldnt find this place again if you paid me a million dollars."

Just about anywhere in Utah that you've set your hide n seek spot at will be teeming with natives if TSHTF. The rest are death traps unless you can somehow manage to hide more water than you can keep clean for a long enough time.

maybe you're right.. but I am uber confident in my selection (s).

I have a bio-dome under Utah Lake. 30,000,000 lbs of carp at my disposal.
Mmmmm carp.

Don't you live in SG?

There isn't even 200,000 in that whole county. I imagine water security would be a bigger deal than looters down there.

You're way over planning this. If **** got as bad as your scenario you will have likely died in the initial event. If you survived your continued survival would be dependent not on your plan but your ability to adjust your mindset to whatever the new reality was.

Uh, yeah.. but better to have planned for my family's survival than to have assumed no hope for them.

So you are going to flee in your armored vehicle through the chaos? Your families survival would depend on you not on some grandiose plan. It would be the little things to prepare that would matter.

Do you carry a weapon with you at all times or do you just keep one at the cabin? Do you have a first aid kit in your home and all of your vehicles? Do you have a jacket, a few cans of food, basic tools, etc. in your trunk?

I think general preparation is going to trump complicated plans almost every time. I'm not saying that having a plan is bad but if you don't make it to 72 hours because you were on the highway in a pair of loafers with nothing but cash in your pocket when tshtf, what's the point.

Bro.. just give me some benefits of the doubt. My home is one mile from the vast expanse (no pavement) of millions and millions of acres. Obviously I dont want to go into too much detail as to why I am so confident.. but this is something I know. (And, btw, I have some Perrier in my thousands of pounds of gear.) ;)

And if you and your family are away when the shtf your plan is useless. That's my point.

You are a lethal combination of naivety and arrogance. Making broad sweeping generalizations about a topic and applying it to me specifically without knowing **** about ****.

Btw, I doubt I ever need any of my stuff for the purposes outlined in this thread. It's more likely just an uber upgraded weekend out with the family thing.
