Gyfcat Support/Embedding?

Any chance of making it so gyfcat html5 video/images can be embedded just like gifs? That'd be real neat.

https://gfycat.com/about

Is there a difference between the initial link they give and html5?

You have to wait for about 15 minutes for a working .gif link and then click the box in the upper-right hand corner to get it. If not you only get a link. You can click on that box and it says something like "please wait blah blah we'll notify you in forever when it's ready".

Is this one 5html? My2Cents put up the link that wouldn't embed. I found checked it several minutes later after finishing and got the embed link:

RepulsiveReasonableImago.gif

Their site converts video to html5 which is A LOT smoother than a regular gif and a tiny fraction of the file size of a regular gif. This means they load faster and look better. The image you inserted is a gif and the video quality is still better than your gif that you inserted. However, if you look at the gyfcat image that they created (html5 video) it will be smoother and look just like the video.

Unfortunately, at this time Jazzfans won't insert the html5 video because of their restrictions on iframes/javascript. However, other sites also have the same restrictions, but have modified it on their end so that you just include the gyfcat link and it embeds the actual image into the post.

Compare your gif with the html5 video they created. Your gif is 11MB, but the gyfcat html5 image is only 683KB.

The gif link is the same link, but with gif on the end. Yet they're two different files. You can also drag and resize the html5 vide and won't lose much quality.

Seriously though... Jason? Mods? Any plans on implementing this or is it just not possible with the board software right now? These gifs that keep getting posted are awesome, but being able to embed the html5 video version would be great.

Here is a perfect example of how it would be awesome. Here, https://jazzfanz.com/showthread.php...8-30PM-on-ROOT&p=929006&viewfull=1#post929006 zyzz embeds a bunch of gyfcat hosted GIFs rather than their html5 equivalent because this site doesn't support it. But to see the quality difference in Chrome, right click one of the images --> "Copy Image URL" or "Open Image in New Tab" --> Remove the ".gif" from the end of the url and "giant." from the beginning then hit enter.

Look at the difference between these two files for the Exum block/Gobert dunk:

Gif image we embed here: https://giant.gfycat.com/ConfusedMintyAcornweevil.gif

Now remove the "https://giant." and the ".gif" which leaves us with the html5 link: https://gfycat.com/ConfusedMintyAcornweevil

Click both links and just look at the beautiful difference/quality. The first .gif link is 29M and the second smoother link is only 4M!!! That's a lot of data saved on our end when threads/images are viewed thousands of times. This is the way the internet is going in terms of "gifs." Twitter users often link to the gyfcat html5 version and www.nba.reddit.com is full of gyfcat versions.

Hopefully the board software you use will soon allow users to embed these files. It helps the pages load much faster and looks a ton better.

If you click the little arrow at the bottom you can speed the gif up or slow it down. Haha, fun.

Wow, if you right click on a gfycat and click "show controls" you can control the animation just like the regular videos with a playing bar.
