Stupid Pet Peeves

after reading all these comments, I'm thinking I need to upgrade the peeve level, make it a Level 1 peeve or something.

Nah. It doesn't bother me that much. It's not that he's insulting my cooking, and I can serve what I was cooking for the next day's meal.

Why get upset that I get out of having to cook a meal?

My mom would whoop my dad's *** if she cooked something, and he started cooking something else. Same goes with me, and my two brothers (one of which is 23, 6'2", 220 pounds). And trust me, y'all would gag if I mentioned some of the things she fixes up for us. God bless her, I'll make my kids do the same probably.

This guy...

... needs to invest in a mirror.

I just feel like many marital issues are ticking time bombs, and the longer you let them ferment, the more explosive the outburst will be when you finally realize you've had enough. While you can point fingers at Vinyl (and myself, as I'm 21) for speaking without a reference, it feels like a lot of marital problems stem from a lack of communication. Of course you have to 'pick and choose your battles', but who says it has to be a battle?

tl;dr it's lame to dismiss VO's contributions just because he's not married. I'd say some of his points are quite appropriate.

Of course, you're right. Along that same line of thinking, you could hire a contractor to build your house, even though he has never done it, has zero training, has zero real life experience with building a house, but has watched every episode of "Home Improvement" and "This Old House". Please call me after he's done and let me know how it goes.

tl;dr

There are some things in life that must be experienced before they can be understood.

What did you feel when Corbin said fans can't criticize players because they never played in the NBA?

We are observing the life around us all the time. Most of us come from families so we see the inner workings of the relationship between wife and husband and since we see it, we can generate ideas about how some problems can be solved or what creates the problems. It's just not family too, we have friends or relatives who are married and some of them do talk a lot about their marriage, come to us for advices and stuff. We also go through relationships ourselves. Even though, it is not marriage, it can be called marriage-lite. All of this give us a right to speak about marriage, it just doesn't mean we will do all the right things in our marriages. My advice to you is that you should always consider what people say about you and your life. Even if it is from Dala.

Isn't that really what you do when you get married? You're "hiring" someone with no practical experience in that job other than what they've seen on the TV!

Yeah, maybe you've practiced bits of it here and there but that's not quite the same thing as the full experience.

He's 100% right, sort of. As a consumer, I have the right to criticize what I spend my money on. On that same note, that "right" doesn't exclude me from sounding like a moron and/or being completely wrong.

On the contrary, I respect Dalamong's opinions on just about everything outside of style/fashion. Why? Because he rarely talks out of his *** and is usually speaking from experience. For being so young, he has a fairly logical, realistic grasp of how the world is, matched only by his intellectual grasping of why the world is.

I doubt I'm going to give my contractor the same feeling out period as I gave my wife. My engagement was fairly quick by some standards, but in six months I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into. Also, if I'm building the house with the contractor, then it changes everything. Like an emoticon.

I just wanted to add that Dalamon's level-headedness is indeed rare for someone his age. I was a lot more like HighlandHomie when I was in my early 20s.

On a separate note, I just came back from a 4-hour basketball session. Every inch of my body hurts. Even my vision is blurry. It has nothing to do with anything, but I thought people need to know about my temporary pain.

How do I do for a 22, doe?

You also seem fairly intelligent and level headed. Maybe it's a southern European thing. But you don't seem to express your opinions all that often on General Forums. You should do it more (as long as you're siding with me). :p

Thanks. I will side with you as long as you are siding with me  . I try to join the General Discussion as much as I can but babe posts are too confusing for me and One Brow doesn't really leave open doors for me in debates to get in.

I would consider that extremely rude. No matter what my wife makes for dinner, I eat it without showing my disdain for it. It doesn't matter if it's frozen corn dogs for the third night in a row or a meal that got ruined/burnt, down the gullet it goes.
This.

I'm always appreciative and happy when my wife cooks..... even if it sucks. (Which is rare)
