A majority of humans naturally overrate their own intelligence (especially not-smart people). It's difficult to objectively quantify ones' own intelligence because no one has ever been somebody else before.

Exactly. I always feel as if I have average intelligence. I understand things that should be understood, and find difficult things that should be difficult. Then you hear from others, who evaluate things differently, and it's only by that comparison you can decide if you are understanding things better or worse than average.

On this board? Below average. Of adults I deal with on a daily basis? Above average. Of society in general? Probably about average.

Like several people mentioned already, intelligence is a complicated subject. Not even neuroscientists are entirely sure of how to objectively define it. If we're talking about the IQ test, then yes, I am above average. I know this because I took and "passed" the test, putting me in the top 2% of people tested. But when it comes to many other facets of life, I think I'm below average. My emotional intelligence is unimpressive, my social intelligence is pretty meh, and I'm seriously lacking in the so-called street smarts (ability to quickly adapt to unfamiliar situations out of my comfort zone).

Yeah, this is a good answer. I am changing my poll answer to below average.
