In yesterday's weekly chat Chad Ford shared that he's talked with sources close to the Jazz and they said that the Jazz are really happy with Dante and think he is going to be great and consider him to be their future franchise player.

Chris (SLC):
Do you think Quin Snyder will eventually give Dante Exum the nod to start at point guard given the occasional flashes of brilliance he's shown so far? I would love to see a Dane Exum-Alec Burks back court at some point this season.

Chad Ford:
I mentioned this last week and feel even stronger about it this week after talking to sources close to the Jazz. They know Exum is going to be amazing and quite possibly their franchise player. He's not ready yet. He has to get stronger to handle all the contact he gets. But he's got the tools, has the basketball IQ, has the work ethic to be GREAT. And his jump shot is dramatically improving. Fast forward two years and he's likely Utah's No. 1 option. But it's early and I think they are erroring on the side of patience right now. He doesn't need to be, nor is he ready to be THE guy right now. I think Burke might start the whole season. But by next year, or the year after, this will be Exum's team to run.

God bless the magic, every one of them.

Yes, but did you see Air Gordon hitting threes before he got hurt? I think the jazz would have done well with either player, so I say God bless the man that made the 4th pick possible!

Now, can someone tell me who was responsible for the 4th pick: Dennis O'Lindsey, Ty Corbin, Jerry Sloan, Deron Williams or Al Jefferson. Thanks in advance!

Funny cause' your Air Gordon signature always confuses me, it sounds close to Aaron Gordon. I thought well, at least it's not as obvious as AKMVP's 'Dante Exum = Biggest bust in Jazz's history'. This is going to back fire on him big time...

There is an 'IT' factor to Dante. I remember when watching the scouting reports on the top prospects before the draft that Exum was the player who excited me the most. We knew about all the attributes and flaws of Wiggins and Parker but barely knew anything about Exum. Sometimes you need to play big to win big, we gambled and it's paying, and I couldn't be more stoked about it. And take that Bill, you can keep your 'smart' pick.

Aaron Gordon has also shown flashes of brilliance. He has had a game better than any single game from Exum. I think Exum will be a good to great player but it is way to far to say he will be better than Gordon. Gordon has shown elite defense of multiple positions, the ability to score in the paint, hit threes in the clutch, his dribble is improving and looks great in the open court. Unfortunately he has a broken foot and he is a project that will take a couple years to see how great he can be just like Exum.

I loved Gordon and would have been fine with the Jazz drafting him. I am sorry he got hurt. I was excited about Exum but didn't have enough understanding of how good he was. I still think he is a couple of years away and I hope he can get a little bit more "I am the man" in him but the kid has talents you don't teach.

It is funny how fans love their guys and have to bash guys we didn't get. If Gordon was on the Jazz people would be praising him and bashing Exum. I think both guys can be great in a few years.

Well ****, that changes everything.

Also that is the next step I would like to see out of Exum. One game where he does more than shows flashes and is more than a role player. He puts together a dominant game and is a major factor in us winning. Gordon dominated that game defensively and was a huge plus on the offense. He also hit a three to seal the game in OT.

Sounds impressive. Judging from that single game, Gordon looks to be a lock as a franchise player. Now I'm jelly.

Gordon isn't a 6'6" PG and hence isn't the more rare and valuable commodity.

True a dominant defensive big man who has the potential to guard all positions who has has the potential to be a good shooter and ball handler are a dime a dozen in the NBA. I mean we have one if you combine all our bigs together...
