What's new

College Basketball '14-15......

What's the point of all these early season tourneys? Just an easier way to schedule games between decent teams? I mean, obviously it's cool to get to play in some of these places....but any game I turn to for a moment is like 1/4 capacity. If that. Nobody goes. Doesn't matter if it's taking place in NYC, Puerto Rico, North Dakota. The empty gym factor has to almost negate any positives.

UK's are full.

The point, though, is negotiating with other top teams to establish a strong SOS. Many times, those teams will only agree on a neutral court unless a home and home series is negotiated over a multi-year deal.

It seems like you get a couple horrible teams in there too. Like BYU's last two teams were somehow loosely considered part of the Maui tourney they'll be at this week even though they were home games. Or in other years BYU will host the "Cougar Classic" and the teams are all complete garbage. And it's not even a tourney. It's just BYU playing multiple teams. Those home games being considered as being more than just single games must be some kind of marketing gimmick. Put a fancy title on the games....and hope it can pull some more people in I guess.

That last part is very true.

It's easy to schedule cupcakes to play on a better team's homecourt (better SOS for themselves and, more importantly for them, a better payday).

This UK team is unreal.

Averaging 10+ blocks per game (#1, obvi)

Not sure how UCLA allowed this Montana State team put 71 points up. UK allowed only 28 and 8 of those were in the final 4 minutes with our walk-ons in the game.

Montana State is literally the worst team I've seen play. Ever. They're horrible.

I don't even want to say that because it's mean. I agree they are not an actual basketball team. I will try to post a funny pic of WCS being 'guarded.'

(btw, this game and our last one against KANSAS, both, we matched our opponents total number of field goals made.. with our number of blocks.)

Honestly, Kentucky didn't even play that well. They're good on defense (really good), but their offense leaves a lot of opportunities on the floor. The Harrison's just aren't that good tbh. Not NBA starter quality.

UCLA is a little overrated, one player got hot from deep, and UCLA wasn't trying.

UCLA may be overrated, I have no opinion on the matter, but to say they weren't trying does look good on new coach Alford.

Pretty much agree. Our defense is other-worldly.. like maybe could be the best defensive cbb team all time, not kidding. Our offense can be stellar and will get much better, as of now, though, I see a couple losses because of not being able to the basket. The twins are good, but not great. At this point, I think Andrew is FAR better (potential, I am referring) than Aaron.

Oh yeah.. and I do like Winslow. :^)
