It might also have to do with paying way too much in the way of salary for the players, which increases the price of tickets so the owners can pay those salaries. When the people that buy tickets have less money, or spend more money on fuel and other life expenses.... less people seem to buy tickets to a game.
There will have to be some compromise on both sides to get this to work.
I don't think a lockout will help the situation either.
 
EXCUSE me? The lockout, for about 1 year....will cure alot of what ails today's NBA!

Only if the players cave first.
If the owners cave in, it will be the same old crap.... and the players will know they can win the battle every time until the NBA folds.
 
I don't see the owners caving this time. They have a lot more money and staying power then the players. Sure Kobe, Lebron, Other elite players can live off endorsements but a lot other players really hurt when there $500k - 1 mil salary isn't coming in.
