Bulls would trade 17th pick

“The Bulls have the 17th overall pick in next week's NBA Draft and it appears to be available.

Chicago general manager Gar Forman told the team's web site that he'd consider trading the pick if the right situation arises.

Forman added that the Bulls have had some discussions about dealing the pick to create additional cap space, but that trading the selection by itself is "not significant enough" to make a deal. "It would have to be the pick with a combination of something else," Forman said”.

If they are looking for cap relief, would they be interested in the Memphis pick and one of our trade exceptions? James Johnson’s 2010-11 salary is 1.7m. We could use the 17th pick on someone like Whiteside, Sanders, Orton, or Hayward or package it with the 9th pick to move up.

WHy not just hold on to the Grizz pick? It will probably be a top 16 pick, since it will be very hard for them to make the playoffs in the West.

The Memphis pick is just about worthless. I would trade our 2012 (we can't do next year's) 1st rounder and cash considerations for the pick. Or the 2012 1st and Koufos for it.

Having #9 and 17 really opens up some doors for us. Add in our 2nd rounder, Tomic's rights, etc. and we'd really have some options and would be foolish if we didn't move up to #5/6 to try to get Cousins.

Making two trades to move up to #5 would really drain assets. And getting 9 and 17 to trade up for Cousins? I'd almost want to take a gamble on Whiteside if the Jazz had two first rounders.

Having the #9 and #17 sounds better than trading the #9 for a #12 and #23.

I couldn't disagree more.

Though Babbitt and Whiteside/Orton/etc. is intriguing.

I think if you have any chance of trading up to get cousins or Flavors you take it.

I agree that It would be interesting to see who we could get at 17 along with 9

Don't think Nets would ever consider giving up the #3. But many think there's a chance to trade up to get Cousins.

If Jazz had #9 and #17 they could take BPA at 9 and a project C at 17. That ends Fes career as a Jazz though. Give Whiteside or Orton or whoever a chance. Jazz keep Koufos another year or two to see if he's worth it.

You say that like it's a bad thing?
