I have the Jazz game on in the other room while I eat my steak, baked potato and broccoli dinner. Meanwhile playing Civilization Beyond Earth and kicking myself for buying it despite the bad reviews.

Still better than watching the Jazz

I am here at work AND I watched the game. It was a barn burner and enjoyable.

I might buy it when it gets to the $20 level, just due to me being such a Civ5 freak.

I've owned every Civ game ever made. At some point I was going to buy it. I got it on a steam sale for $40.

It's pretty much a huge mod for Civ5. My biggest complaint is that it really isn't polished, the terrain is ugly, the dialogue boxes are plain, it just isn't very immersive.

For real though, you ever play a Civ game?

I was in middle school when I started playing the series and I actually got a pretty firm grasp on world geography by playing the Earth map with traditional starting points. It's easily one of the greatest PC game series of all time. Easily.

Discount PC gaming if you want to, but there has been some pretty deep content over the years.

Risk provides the same pleasures. . . . just a pain rolling dice and dealing with all the little plastic armies. . . . I might have invented a game like what I imagine civ to be when I was depressed once upon a time, and didn't find it so pleasant to get out in the sunshine or drive down the road somewhere. . . .

My girls are starting to do that stuff. I have to check out the games they play to make some kind of comments on the values they're learning from it. . . .

I can't get my family to play Risk. Love it. While I was hosting poker games there was a different crowd in my division playing 2-3 risk games at a time. When we got grounded from poker for a month I started playing risk every night. The guys I played against were pretty serious about their risk games and I never got as good as the best couple of players.

That said, Risk is a massively simplified version of Civilization (which also exists as a board game). You don't have to invade anyone to win at Civilization.

LOL, to you too, if you want to discount the value of some of these really interesting games. Humans play games. The best games being made today are video games. The best and the brightest in the world are participating, either as makers or players. Ignore this at your own peril.
 
I watch every second moaning the whole time like when I got whooping cough the same day my testies were clipped. Watching feels like my boys are turning inside out.

No improvements for four years is misery. I got this blow up Obama punching bag that gets smashed every time he calls an inbound play. What the hell was that last second heave from Trey in the Denver game? Thats the best we can do?

The series is easily in my top 5 of all time. I think 5 is the best version, though I have a soft spot for 2 since it was the first one I played. I'm sure you know the same glorious/scary feeling I do of playing so long and looking down at the clock and realizing 4 or so hours have passed by.

Yes, I'm sure Hayward was the first option, just as he was in the Cleveland and Chicago games. You don't think every team is thinking the same? You take away Hayward and make ANYONE else take the shot.
