What's new

Darft Jimmer Fredette.

I honestly haven't seen much of Fredette. I'm just YouTube'ing him.
But there have been several players who have had an impact in the NBA because they could shoot and had other all-around skills. Stephen Curry comes to mind. Scott Brooks, Scott Skiles.

They have to do more than shoot though. They have to have play-making skills and not be a defensive liability, if they are going to see much court time.

Yes. I was searching for the perfect comparison and the best I could come up with was a mix of House and Nash. Jimmer is a younger version of Mark Price.

Before or after he blew out his knee?

If you're saying Jimmer is a future four time all-star that's going to go for nearly 20/10 and shoot close to a 50/40/90 in the NBA I feel comfortable taking the under sight unseen. If nothing else, his percentages are likely to decline simply because defenses will be longer and faster.

Is his name really Jimmer? Seriously? Were his parents high or inbred or something?

I'm with you on this.
I think Jimmer can turn into this, if everything goes his way, but if Jimmer makes an NBA roster and turns into a Mark Price I would say he has overachieved and beat the odds.
He can, but the chances of that happening are slim even if I hope it happens.

People are missing the obvious equivalent: Jason Terry

Similar size, athleticism, etc. Jimmer has a somewhat better handle and a bit more distance on his shot, but overall, very similar games.

Terry was quicker and lighter when he came into the league. Hence the nickname "Jet". I think Jimmer's best role model would be Stephen Curry, but he's going to need to be crafty about creating space for himself.

Jimmer is an NBA late 1st round pick and I wish him well in the NBA.

I do not want a smallish, slowish SG in a PG's body on the Jazz however. He is too slow to be a great PG in the NBA and does not have the handle to make up for it (ala Deron). He's too short to be a great SG and not athletic enough to make up for it (ala Price). The guy can flat out shoot and that alone will give him a shot at sticking in the NBA though.

....sounds like another guy the Jazz took a flyer on.....John Stockton? How tall is this kid? Sounds to me like he was born to play for the Jazz. Heck, if he can shoot lights out....he'll work in the Jazz system! We will find a way to get him some open looks. Defense? Nobody plays team defense like the Jazz! We got big Al.....patroling the paint, not Boozer! Maybe he's a ball buster and can deny his man the ball? Just a suggestion.
