What's new

2 year old toddler dead after shooting himself with his father's handgun.... in USA yet again.

I would definitely be interested in seeing how the rest of the world compares in accidental gun deaths of children.

I bet some places in the middle east are keeping up with a "children blown up carrying out suicide or IED attacks" category.

I don't own a gun because if I did I would be worried that I might commit suicide with it by now. You just have to be suicidal for 1 sec, long enough to bring the gun to your head and pull the trigger.

Takes a little longer than a second to go get the gun, load it, and point it at your head. Anyways, if you're depressed or suicidal, then yeah, a gun should most definitely not be in your house/possession.

Why do we try to ban guns instead of educate people on them?

Maybe we should ban sex instead of educating our young people about that too...after all, I constantly hear that teenage pregnancy ruins lives.

That is why you should ALWAYS have your gun loaded in immediate reach wherever you may be. It is always a good idea to have one under the coffee table, or on the kitchen counter, and in nightstand drawers. Always loaded, safety off. Saving time is important in an emergency.

well I think USA in general does poor job in educating as you guys lead world in teen pregnancies and STD's as well.

I don't know too many toddlers that impregnate chicks, otherwise I agree guns and sex are the exact same.... especially how sex and guns are both primarily used and invented for killing

At this point, gun nuts are gonna do what they do.

Libs are gonna do what they do.

And nothing will ever change.

USA USA USA!

You just cannot ignore the statistics anymore... Soo many more gun deaths in USA than anywhere else. However I don't know if you can ban anymore since it so widespread and I don't think gun owners will give them back.

Ignore? Maybe not.

Explain them away? Certainly!

USA is far far from most dominant world power ever - try Genghis Khan Mongol empire for example.

They were always fighting massive wars, and frankly while they may have held a lot of territory their influence on the total world wasn't there. Heck, they didn't even know about half the world's existence. The US controls the world without doing much in terms of constant large scale warfare. Just little crap like Afghanistan and Iraq. Though if large scale warfare were needed the US has easily the best military in the world, by far. I'm not sure if the next 10 most powerful armies in the world combined touch the United States. With the Navy alone, there are like 31 aircraft carriers in the world, and the US has 19 of them, and all 19 of them operating them are much better than any other countries (the countries that typically have 0-1 carrier). And not just by warfare, but in terms of economic and cultural power as well. In fact the idea of owning a bunch of land just doesn't work in terms of being a power in the world today. If the US really wanted to it would own pretty much all the Americas (both North and South), but occupying all those countries is not worth it. Having pretty much complete influence over them is much better, and we do, other than minor countries like Cuba.

Now I personally think we spend way too much money on the military, and that if we spent even half of what we spend now we'd still be for more dominant than everyone else...but we do spend a ton of money on it, and that's one of the reason the US is the greatest power the world has ever seen. It is the only country ever that can project its power anywhere in the world extremely quickly (perhaps the Soviets could at their height), due to its massive carrier fleet (and massive nuclear submarine fleet and its massive bombers and air force and everything else).

Sorry but this all post reeks arrogance and ignorance. You are badly misinformed my friend.
