Ante Tomic?

Sorry if this is common knowledge or has been asked before recently but what's our situation with Tomic? Is it really just up to him whether he wants to come over to play for us?

I would like to bring him over as a backup big instead of Kanter, but I guess it wouldn't matter if he doesn't want that role.

Maybe if we draft Mario Hezonja (who I really like), we could bring both of them over.

Who is this mythical Tomic that you speak of? I have heard legends of a skinny giant from a far off land that can hit jumpers and falls to the ground with the greatest of ease, but have yet to have any confirmation that the Jazz actually still believe him to be a real player or as stated earlier a mythical creature like a skinny bigfoot from Oregon.

All real bigfoots are from Oregon......

Haha, this **** will never get old. It's right up there with "pillow forts" and Karl Malone stuffing aliens up they butts.

How come nobody has started a thread on the fact that EJ Wells/DiMera died?

Ante Tomic is a legit star. The latest news is that the FO is working on buying out his contract, but Shaq and several other centers, past and current, have sued the league to keep Tomic out so their various records and reputations will stay intact. Word has it he has a legit half-court "baby hook" shot, shoots 3's regularly from the opposite foul line. His latest line in a game was 63 pts on 20-22 shooting, and 5-6 from downtown....literally, through a skylight while he was hitting on chicks at a pub, 35 rebs, 18 assists, 16 blocks, 12 steals, and -1 turnovers. He hasn't missed a free throw in 3 years. The last time he did it was to win a bet that he actually COULD miss a free throw. His team won their last game 120-64, and his plus/minus alone was +118. He once made a 3 pt shot from his own bench, as he was sitting out in the 3rd quarter, but they counted it because he was just that awesome. So odds are he will play for us after the AS break and we will win all the championships, including retroactively.

DL talked about Tomic about a week ago. They are definitely keeping close tabs on him. He is probably the backup plan if we trade/can't re-sign Kanter.

Dude, it's Days... Nobody ever dies. Jon has come back three dozen times, Tony has come back from the dead before (and I'm STILL waiting for his next resurrection), and let's not even talk about Stephano. Elvis Junior will be back, mark my words.

Heaven help us.

Tomic has improved each season in the Euro League. Imagine him playing along side, Favors, and Gobert. I wet myself.

Tomics offensive skill next to Goberts defense? So much length! Favors brings the girth.

Ante has speed, passing ability, and an array of low post moves.

All in all a Favors, Gobert, Tomic trio would be the best group of big man ever for us.

My opinion? with Favors and Gobert on the team and Tomic demanding starter contract and minutes, his rights will probably be traded to a team in a deal for some value.

Uhhhhh..... he only plays like 20 mpg in Europe. European players are use to sharing minutes. I don't think minutes are an issue if Kanter isn''t here, assuming Tomic can play.

As far as pay goes, I'm guess he doesn't make that much in Europe, nothing like NBA players can make. Him coming to the NBA will be to prove himself as a basketball player and take the next challenge and possibly put himself in line for a big pay day on his second contract if he plays well.

Ante Tomic said Barcelona "has a team-option for next season" and that "anything (Re: Europe/NBA) is possible."

David Pick ‏@IAmDPick Jan 14

Asked Ante Tomic of his NBA aspirations: "I'd like to make the NBA, the window isn't closed."

I'd love us to get him over to the NBA. I'd prefer us paying him 3x5 than have to match Kanter's 4x12 or something like that...

Tomic can do that one magical thing Kanter refuses to. Pass out of the double team/low post.

I think he could be effective. Look at what Gasol is doing in Chicago this year, having a career year despite very little athleticism left. Granted Gasol's defense is spotty nowadays but Kanter's is flat out swiss cheese.

I don't know, but it seems like he has shown no interest in coming over until recently, and it's possible his sudden interest has something to do with the fact he knows Utah is already set at his position. I'm guessing he'd prefer a trade to coming off the bench for Utah. Either way, for everyone who has made up their mind that he's never coming over, or that he's not that good anyway, don't be so sure. If might not be next season, but within two years I believe he'll be playing in the NBA. I think I'd prefer to trade Kanter and keep Tomic as a 3rd big, but even if we have to trade him to get him to come over, he'll be a nice asset to add to the mix as the team starts to take shape. Utah needs a little luck in completing this rebuild, but if anyone is set up for things to really come together nicely, it has to be the Jazz.

Tomic is going to be 28 next week. I don't think there's much precedence for skilled Euro players to wait until they're 30 to play in the NBA. It's pretty much now or never - or at least very, very soon.

And his supposed interest in the NBA may just be a contract ploy - his team option will certainly be picked up. He may be looking to lock up an extension or new deal before next season.
