Kanter traded to OKC

I'd argue with Hayward's living up to his contract this year, the clock is ticking on showing him we are serious about doing something. I'm not saying this trade was it, but it gives DL a chance to offer a big contract to somebody during the offseason.

DL could:
1. Take what he could get now and avoid chemistry issues and allow QS to focus more on Rudy. Then use the cap space to chase and woo the free agent of his choice, or use the space in some other transaction.
2. Retain Kanter, hope that he can resign him, that he doesn't get injured again, sign and trade him etc. In this scenario Booker is probably not in the plans, or DL is waiting to parlay a possible good contract for Kanter into another player down the road.

I think focusing on Rudy and taking a chance on a free agent is a pretty sound path to follow to expedite the progression of the rebuild.
The success of this trade depends on what Rudy does as a permanent starter and what DL does with the cap space this offseason. I guess there is always the longshot of one of the two players we got back being worth something.

Here's an exercise for you: Take a look at the team/assets DL inherited at the end of the 2012 offseason. Then take a look at what he has now. I've done this, posted it, and gotten very few serious bites before. I'll gladly engage if you do a little leg work. Sarcastic one-liners are of no value.

It's easy to reconcile, dude. Dennis just wanted to nuke the team-- take a few years away from being a competitive product, and gear up for long tenure of playoff contention. Most people have considered his drafting as strong to very strong. The trade for Burke was savvy-- it hasn't been a home run, but Shabazz & Dieing aren't starters on any playoff team. Neither is Schröder. Missing on Greek Freak was the only mistake-- but nailin Gobert makes up for it.

Dante was a good pick, and most still agree with this. Hood was considered a steal relative to draft position.

His trades have been emptying, to maximize player development of our real cogs, and be prepared for free agency when we need our final pieces.

In a years time, after this summer's FA period, I think that will be an apt time to compare what Dennis started with vs. What he has now. He's still mid-rebuild-- but it really seems like he's almost done. It's exciting.

Getting rid of Millsap and Al meant that the FO could have 100% insight on a day like today as to whether we should hang onto Enes or not. We chose not to, and it was the right decision; I think it was obvious from the first week of this season that Kanter was the odd man out of this roster.

b_line had no desire to engage in an intelligent, respectful discussion. I made no great claims about my credibility, but that's the only thing he chose to address. I responded appropriately.

If so-- just take the high road, and don't gratify him with any sort of response.

What's your agenda? I called him out for being inconsistent and displaying had judgement about picks or players. So what's your point in this?

Getting rid of Millsap, Al and Kanter is fine. What they received in return for those players is underwhelming at best. Sure, he's been active during the draft, and he did well with the Gobert trade, but that trade and the early returns on Snyder are his only wins at this point. He had a lot to work with when he took over. I like watching quality basketball; this isn't all that exciting to me.

And you're entitled to that opinion. I just think that Al would have garnered absolutely nothing to us, without returning a super ****ty contract or something. Letting go of Carroll baffled me back then-- but I assumed it was because they wanted to expand the roles of Alec & Hayward (as they felt both had a higher ceiling than DeMarre), and let Carroll go on to pursue a starting role on a team elsewhere.

Millsap for Bledsoe rumors were running around back then. We could have gotten something for Sap-- that's probably the only mistake I will concede. But again, it's
Impossible to know without knowing the actual offers that were on the table.

Why would I want to do that?

Yeah. Says the guy who has the same reaction anyone ever starts a conversation with him. If you quit acting like a dick and telling everyone to go eff themselves you might be a lot happier.

Sorry I didn't realize that you being not as high on exum and Gobert didn't mean you don't like them? Pretty ambiguous argument. If you like them, why say you are not as high on them? Why not just say you like them? Or that they will be ok players.


My main argument here is that I think the front office of the Jazz is doing a good job, and you don't. No need to be a dick about it.
