What's new

Tibor Pleiss

I've already convinced myself this guy is better than Kanter. He is Mozgov with a jumper.

I know it's a highlight reel against iffy competition....But some of those offensive moves were impressive. Hook shots with both hands, jump shot out to about 10 feet, and the up and under to counter the hook, all looked pretty impressive.

Moreover, he makes his decisions swiftly. He doesn't seem to power dribble or hesitate. That's key.

So I went to the ACB official page (Spanish League) and pulled Tibor's career stats.

Average mins/game: 18
Points: 8.9
FG %: 60%
FT %: 80%
Rebounds: 5.4
Assists: 0.4
Blocks: 0.9

Just double the numbers for his PER 36 and you get 17.8 pts and 10.8 rebs, pretty decent numbers right there if you ask me.

He's on the same freaking team as Tomic

Wondering how much it will cost to buy him out this season?

Is there a buyout for next season and if so for how much (no clue what his contract is like or if he's even signed for next season)?

I would love to see this dude play for us NOW if the buyout isn't too much.

Did a bit more research, looks like his contract with FC Barcelona was for this season and the next, but the NBA team that owns his rights can buy him out for 800.000 euros (around $910.000).

I think we can pay 600k of it. This could get done soon... I hope the rumors that he is ready to come over right now are true. Really would like to see a battle of bench bigs... Pleiss vs. Kanter.

Not bad! Now the Jazz need to decide if it's worth having him come over here for some NBA experience or to wait and put him through a training camp. There are advantages to both, of course.
