What's new

This is so sick.

What a heartbreaking story. I hope that sociopathic bitch gets her tubes tied so she can't reproduce before she's thrown in jail for a long, long time.

Lots of girls tell guys to drop dead. If you do it, they just think you're weak.

I'm not sure if this remark is a subpar trolling attempt but if it's not, it shows a lack of contextual understanding.

Bullying is a serious issue... boys & girls that age, for them, things that seem insignificant for us are HUGE FOR THEM

Like this Japanese girl on CNN who was nearly driven to suicide by bullying.

I have to admit, I wasn't able to read all the texts, but I read enough to say it was more than her telling him to drop dead.

This isn't a thing where she got sassy and told him to go kill himself and he went and did it. This is a long discussion where she repeatedly asks why he hasn't killed himself yet, telling him that he had the perfect opportunity and that if he couldn't do it then he probably wasn't going to, telling him how easy it was going to be once he put his mind to it...

It's ****ing horrible.

OK, so I actually read the whole link in the OP.

I could babble about society and the implied messages of the political rhetoric of our age, or psychologize it or something, but I think the girl deserves the conviction for manslaughter. I'd say the same thing about anyone who encouraged anyone to jump, pull the trigger, do the curve at 150mph, or put their head in a gas oven. I'll leave it at that.

At any rate, it's a very sad story - - but there are some very disturbed people in this world. This reminds me of that Texas high school cheerleader story from a few years back, I don't really remember that much, but it was a plan to kill someone to give their daughter a better chance at making the cheerleading squad.

There was also something just in the news related to the three cop-killers on the loose in the far north Chicago suburbs about someone lying about seeing the suspects to get attention from her boyfriend - wasted a lot of resources investigating her false claims. Not nearly as drastic, but similar in motivation.

Tough to know what was going on in his life to make him even consider this at all - and it sounds like he had at least a reasonable relationship with his family. Very, very sad - but I'm not sure the girlfriend should be charged with manslaughter. Maybe an accessory or something, and certainly with obstruction for misleading his family and the authorities.

I don't really know enough about the various categories to say how I think she should be charged.
