What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Conley doesn't make us a contender. Haven't you learned that it's not worth it to trade a 1st round pick or two for a PG? Hill, now Rubio, and now Conley? All three injury prone. The only good thing about Hill and Rubio is that they made $15 or less. Imagine the outrage when we're out in the 1st or 2nd round again but we're paying Conley $36 million in 2020-21.

Pass on Conley.

It's not even comparable because Conley is in a totally different class than Hill or Rubio. Conley is a legit all star caliber player. He would give us exactly what we need, another playmaker off the dribble that can create his own shot and give us 20 points a game. Plus he's a good passer and shooter, great in the pick and roll and doesn't turn the ball over.

I agree. By trading for Conley, we lose every chance to sign Tobias or Kemba or any other. Pass on Conley.

If Grizzlies call around the draft and say "hey Conley is available in trade" then you jump on the chance to get him. I agree that Kemba or Tobias would be better options for us all things being equal. But things aren't equal. It is going to be very hard to get one of those guys in free agency. You take what you can get. We cannot afford to strikeout.

Conley (if healthy) definitely makes us a contender. I still don't know if we beat the very top teams in the league. But we would have a much better chance with Conley than with Rubio/Favors.

And imagine if we get Conley, the Warriors lose Durant, the Rockets blow up, the Celtics lose Kyrie, the 76ers lose a piece or two and nobody else improves greatly. We're right there in that scenario.

The advanced metrics on Olynyk have him barely better than Crowder and well below Favors.

One metric may say that but advanced numbers really like him.... if he was on par with Favs that’s great because we ain’t keeping Favs for what Olynyk makes and Kelly’s skillset is a better fit.

RPM he is about the same as Favs but has been higher in other years. The on/off numbers in Boston for defense were weirdly good... was just saying you look at him and think he’s Kanter but he’s not... on offense he does a lot of good things.

Wait so we are worried about giving out worthless picks that Memphis doesn’t even need for their rebuild... are those picks valuable or not?

This! If we pass up the opportunity to trade for Conley we most likely strike out with Harris and Kemba and end up signing some scrub like Rozier.

He doesn’t know bruh... you think he has a ****ing Jazz salary spreadsheet like me... he doesn’t. I do. We’d have to cobble together a bunch of salary after signing Tobias but we have enough... it’s also close enough that we could involve an additional team to help make ends meet.

You have to sign Harris then trade for Conley... can’t do it the other way around.

Conley isn’t better than Kemba but he’s damn close... i know he makes a lot but it’s 2 years and he’s almost exactly what we need at that guard spot.

I’m a DM at pg truther... I think it would work well in the regular season... but in the playoffs we need more playmakers and Conley is about as good as you can get.

If they’d do Exum, cap space, or expirings and a first we should run to do the deal.

The amount of desperation right now in this forum is pathetic. Conley is an extremely shortsighted move. Not only does he cost us assets, he costs us cap space this summer and next. The summer his contract goes away, we gotta pay Gobert, O'Neale and soon after Donovan.

I agree - Conley makes us better. But he is an aging PG who is injury prone and extremely overpaid. Pass on Conley.

Have any of you seen how many games the past 5 years Conley has actually played? Hell no for that price.

I mean he played 70 last year and went for an extremely effecient 21 and 6... good shooting percentages and very low turnovers...

He played 12 the year before but could have come back... they yanked the eff out of both seasons.

Conley has been right around 70 games per year every year... if he was 25 and never missed games and made 10M a year he would cost eleventythree firsts instead of one... I think most the poster here are the types that want beach front property on a trailer park budget.

Based on his actual production last year he isn’t overpaid.... extremely???? Gtfo.

He’s not shown any signs of aging... the assets I put in the deal you said wouldn’t matter to Memphis...

It isn’t desperation but what happens if our FA plans turn into Favs guaranteeing and signing Jeremy Lamb to an overpriced deal better than having Conley for a pick and some of our space?

Conley is a very very very good player who provides so much of the **** we need... would fuggin love to have him.

You advocated for Justice Winslow.

Yep. He is a long term piece who makes 1/3 of what Conley makes. And he is 9 years younger. And he is signed for 3 years.

We need to build for a long term future around Donovan not make a knee-jerk move to get back to the 2nd round. Conley is a good player, but we need so much more.

Shortsighted.
