Jerami Grant traded to Denver

Unless we find a way to deal away Dante's contract

If Utah is going to trade Dante at the moment, it would have to be a sucker deal given his current value. There's a chance he could play his way into value this season, but we'll need to see. If such is the case, Utah may well just keep him. Love the "what ifs" involved with this stuff.

Good move by DEN and OKC. Clear the tax bill, get assets. Now they just need to jettison Westbrook for more picks and they will have the largest draft war chest ever.

It's basically damage control at this point. DL made mistakes last summer and we are suffering from them

Hindsight. At the time, the deal was solid enough that most of us were good with it. You can't crucify a man for something that wasn't a sin at the time.

Not really. It doesn't require much hindsight at all to see the risks of signing an injury prone player to a 3 year fully guaranteed deal. Most of us saw it coming. We had no problem with the decision of bringing Dante back. But bringing him back on what kind of deal really matters.

I don't like it because it gives Denver more depth. OKC gave a good player to a division rival for a likely poor draft pick, right? No other team would've wanted Grant?

Even though I wasn’t super exited about it, I’d agree. I don’t fault him for his Hayward PTSD. What I do fault him for is not wanting to include him in a deadline Conley deal and sending out the “OMG we love Exum and think he can be special” message continually through TJ.

One first rounder is enough to get it done because Grant is basically a one year rental given the fact that it is almost a guarantee that he opts out next year. And I don't think Denver has enough to bring him back

I don't think it was confirmed that Exum was truly the holdup.

Thanks, that makes sense. Makes them tough for this season, but likely won't retain him.
