This is the first matchup where I haven’t gone into the vote and immediately thought “That team is way better.” Close. Close. Close.

Ultimately went with Spy due to star power, but I think Wes built my second favorite team in this thing. Too bad they had to face off before the finals.

These things are becoming a joke. You pair two top-15 guys together and you win in a landslide. Wes has the better team.

He put together a solid team around them too, though.

Dumars and Mourning hold up well as starters in this. Iggy, I’m not as sold on, but he’s offset somewhat by Wes starting Bosh (IMO). Don’t love either team’s bench. I think the Magic/Bird pairing was inspired. If he had a **** team surrounding them, I’d have had a hard time voting for him. It was extremely close for me, but I think he gets a slight edge.

I don't get this sentiment.

The nature of basketball leads to star players mattering more than other sports. There are only 5 players on a team that can play at once. When you have arguably two top 10 talents of all time, that matters a lot.

Now Wes built a very good team. So did Spy! The greatest PG of all time, Larry friggin Bird, Dumars is a good defender who can shoot, Iggy is a very good defender who can do a little of everything, and Zo was a skilled scorer and great interior defender. It's an elite fastbreak team. There are shooters and defenders. Spy's team construct is very, very good.

Wes has a good team, and he built it well with a good plan. His top talent just isn't as good, and that matters a lot. It's a close matchup, but also obviously Spy, imo. Just because the vote isn't close doesn't mean the "games" wouldn't be.

I love Iggy starting. He's proven he can be a role player with great skills. He fits the fastbreak motif, and is a very good defender. It makes sense on a lot of levels.
