What's new

Bolomboy

My wife had Clash of the Titans on today. I had to explain Release the Bolomboy to her after the Kracken scene.

I wish the Jazz would have sent him to Russia for two years and then brought him over. I’m a big fan of this. Why develop them for the Euro leagues? Bring the second rounders in for summer league, let them develop in Europe, and bring them back when they are in their prime.

Jazz don't really have that option if the player doesn't want to go. Bolomboy got a shot with the Jazz and then with the Bucks. Had he shown enough promise, Jazz would have kept him. The draft and stash worked with Neto and they did it with NWG. Perhaps they tried it with their picks this year, but none of them wanted to go.

This guy can put together a nice highlight package.

I wonder how often he still gets lost af on defense?

Things I learned from Googling today:

- Similar to Kuzma on the US, Bolomboy was recently cut from the Russian team and will not play in the World Cup due to ongoing foot problems.

- Despite being born in the Ukraine, Vladimir Putin conferred Russian nationality on Bolomboy to allow him to play for CSKA Moscow this past year. Apparently Bolomboy's mother is not ethnic Ukrainian, in spite of Joel's birthplace, but rather ethnic Russian.

Apparently Bolomboy didn't set the world on fire this past year in CSKA Moscow.

He averaged less than 10 minutes and 3 pts per game in the team's Euroleague games, and under 13 minutes and 5 points per game overall (though the efficiency/production per minute was decent). Maybe it was partly a function of adapting to a new environment/team.

If he had been on the national team until the foot problems shut him down, he must have been doing something right, however. Hope he has a great year this coming season.
