The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

If I decide that you ought to be investigated are you somehow admitting your guilt by saying, "Take a hike!"

If the person being investigated is a public official, and the subject of the investigation is related to actions taken in the fulfillment of that person's official duties, then yes-- absolutely. How not?

We could do lots of things.
Alas, there is a procedure already in place (this isn't the first impeachment inquiry on history) and that is the procedure being used.

Could you explain this procedure? If I'm not mistaken both Bill and Dick were afforded an impeachment inquiry vote

LOOOOOOL

Zombie, perhaps the Bidens didn’t commit a crime because of how embedded the federal law is with corporate law. But to come out blabbing about Trump’s ties to Russia while his son Hunter was getting paid $50000/month while being on the board of a Russian state sponsored oil company is beyond bull****. Let’s get real here, is this about integrity or is it about replacing Trump with just another POS corrupt politician.
Yeah, maybe settle down. I'm not at all a Biden supporter, and I wish we lived in a world where family members of politicians couldn't use their proximity to power to make money.

But he said they committed crimes, and I want to know which ones.

Hey just an FYI the constitution doesn't require a vote before an inquiry, and specifically states the House has sole authority to impeach the president, meaning they get to set the terms. All this crying about process is just that, a tantrum.

Lol asking for equal opportunity is a tantrum. Coming from the guy tantruming daily about Trump.

They don't have an equal share of power in the House. Maybe they should have won more votes. I suggest you cry about it.
You suggest I cry? Why? I've watched you cry for 3+ years and you still haven't gotten your way. Hell you're balling your baby eyes out as we speak. Poor kid got his feeling hurt by Trump.

On the contrary I'm quite pleased Trump is going to be impeached.

Plus Trump and team have STOPPED DENYING the allegation. Have you not noticed that? Their statements have gone from "we didn't do it" to "it's perfectly fine that we did it."

And from the "why we must impeach" article @gandalfe posted:

"The nation’s founders understood, having fought a revolution against monarchy, that no government of the people was invulnerable to such egregious abuses of power. They were particularly concerned, as Alexander Hamilton wrote in the Federalist Papers, that a president, through “cabal, intrigue, and corruption,” might help “foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils.” In their wisdom, they created a mechanism to halt this disloyal corruption in its tracks: impeachment."

I just don't understand why all this is so difficult for some to understand. Nor how anyone can fail to see that Trump is making every effort to put himself above the law.

The United States is not an elective monarchy. How hard is that to understand?

Trump's own actions have led us to this point. And recent reporting has affirmed that there are a number of people within the White House who are alarmed by the words and behavior of Donald Trump, and are making an effort to bring that behavior to light. Those are the patriots in this story. Those of us attempting to sound warning understand the man is trashing our Constitution. It has nothing to do with overturning an election. It has everything to do with protecting our Constitution and our democracy.

It's also worth noting that the procedures taken in impeachment proceedings have varied throughout history as well. At one point a president was impeached before the house even voted on what they were impeaching him for.

So, yeah.

I think something that Trumper's aren't really grasping is the scope of his pursuit of Ukrainian influence on the election. If Trump has made a single comment to Zelenskyy about the Bidens that would be one thing. It still wouldn't be appropriate, but I don't think it would quite rise to the level of impeachment.

But he has leveraged the entire state department, in addition to the DOJ in pursuit of this. He's held up aid passed by congress to try to pressure them, fired an ambassador at the request of the men working with his attorney to pressure them. And then there's the cover up, the obstruction and the lying.

@Joe Bagadonuts mentioned Clinton asking Tony Blair for help with resolving a dispute between British Airways and US carriers, saying it would be nice to get it resolved, in part because they are in a political season. Is it appropriate for a president to bring up that this would help him politically? No, I don't think it is. But this request is a far cry from what we're seeing with Trump.

As an independent I still see nothing that is actually impeachable in any of the released evidence from this inquiry so far. And I'm fairly certain democrats are screwing themselves in 2020 no matter how the inquiry turns out.

Do you agree that "impeached" means that the house passes articles of impeachment, not that the senate convicts him?
When I made the initial bet I would've said no dice 100% but I did hastly agree to impeached so I kind of pinned myself to an official impeachment. As I said I'll stand by my bet and I agree.

Even if he does get impeached I find it laughable that Ole Donny boy will still be filthy rich and living it up. The only thing we have then is an even more divided America. Personally I'd rather see the Democrats show some backbone and just beat the guy next year but I think it's quite obvious that impeachment is their only way. The party is worthless garbage right now. And lol if you think the Republican clowns are any better off.

As I've said if we're going to drain the swamp let's do it, but that includes people like the Bidens. It never will happen though as this isn't about overstepping boundaries, this is about a party that is so ashamed that they lost that they have given up their very ideals in their crazy bloodlust for Trump.

Clinton said it best, not accepting results is a direct threat to our democracy. I see shades of Marxism in the whole thing.
