The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

More details about Fiona Hill's testimony.

Fiona Hill, the White House’s former top Russia adviser, told impeachment investigators on Monday that Rudolph W. Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, ran a shadow foreign policy in Ukraine that circumvented U.S. officials and career diplomats in order to personally benefit President Trump, according to people familiar with her testimony.
...
In a closed-door session that lasted roughly 10 hours, Hill told lawmakers that she confronted Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, about Giuliani’s activities which, she testified, were not coordinated with the officials responsible for carrying out U.S. foreign policy, these people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to disclose details of her deposition.
...
Hill testified Monday that [national security advisor] Bolton was furious over Giuliani’s politically motivated activities in Ukraine, two officials familiar with her testimony said. She recounted how Bolton likened the former New York mayor to a “hand grenade who’s going to blow everybody up,” one of these people said, after Bolton learned about Giuliani’s Ukraine campaign.

Bolton and Sondland met in early July with then-special envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker, Hill and Energy Secretary Rick Perry. During the meeting, Sondland’s agenda for Ukraine began to become clear, when he blurted out to the other officials present that there were “investigations that were dropped that need to be started up again,” according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter. The officials understood him to be referring to Burisma, the energy company, and Biden — something that made Bolton go “ballistic” after the meeting, the official said.

Hill told lawmakers that after the meeting, Bolton instructed her to go raise their concerns about the shadow Ukraine operations with White House lawyers... Hill met with NSC lawyer John Eisenberg to express her concerns about Giuliani’s activities and how they were being carried out by Sondland and Volker, people familiar with the matter said.

Just amazing. Looks like from your post that Perry is going to be pulled into the muck. I read last night that Bolton said, “I’m not part of whatever Rudy and Mick are cooking.” So it sounds like Mulvaney too is in on it.

This is an actual deep state plot.

What is this concept hard to grasp or something?
It's not that it's hard to grasp, it's just not accurate to say the rot of corruption infecting the Republican party is happening on the left as well.

I'm sure this will get me labeled a partisan hack or whatever, but while neither party is by any means perfect, the disregard for the rule of law and democratic values is uniquely present in the GOP these days.

Neither party is perfect, agreed, but at least if one of them was good enough to cast a vote for them.

This post makes no sense. Can someone translate this into English?

No one is making the argument that one party is perfect, so you’re not rebutting anything anyone has said. Why you felt it necessary to say that is weird. It makes it appear as if you’re making a comparison to the two parties as being equal in their ideological and moral rot. Which is preposterous.

It’s pretty obvious that while both parties are seeing adjustments to their ideologies. Sanders has clearly pulled the party left. It’s not as radical as critics claim. Ideas such as universal health care, gun reform, and higher education subsidies are pretty mainstream almost everywhere else in the industrialized world. However, one party has completely gone off the rails and is actively working to prolong a constitutional crisis. One party is openly embracing fascism. One party is actively working to spread disinformation and protect a president who is engaging in illegal activity to the detriment of our country’s and the international community’s well-being. Then again, @Jazzta last week denied that Russia interfered in our 2016 election. Someone that “naive” probably does think that both parties are the same.

Bless Bernie, he’s come back stronger than ever. Like him or not that man has a lot of spirit and you have to appreciate his relentlessness and determination. An American political legend in my book.

Not his income tax, but still of interest I suspect...

Never-Before-Seen Trump Tax Documents Show Major Inconsistencies
The president’s businesses made themselves appear more profitable to lenders and less profitable to tax officials. One expert calls the differing numbers “versions of fraud.”

"A dozen real estate professionals told ProPublica they saw no clear explanation for multiple inconsistencies in the documents. The discrepancies are “versions of fraud,” said Nancy Wallace, a professor of finance and real estate at the Haas School of Business at the University of California-Berkeley. “This kind of stuff is not OK.”

C'mon Red. Stay focused. We are talking about Ukraine. Or was it Russia? Or is it his hair?

I dunno. What are we bitching about today? Help me catch up.
