What's new

The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Only if they go down simultaneously. If Trump goes down first then Pence will immediately appoint a Veep. If Pence goes down first (highly unlikely) then Trump will similarly immediately replace him. Simultaneity could only be achieved, as far as I know, if the Senate considers them as co-defendants and has a joint conviction vote.
Which, btw, of course the Senate would not do because of the Republican majority. So it's not going to happen.

Indeed, which is why I think it's extremely unlikely. Trump getting kicked out of office, while seemingly becoming more likely every day, still seems like a long shot.

If Pence goes down as well, which I find extremely unlikely, Nancy Pelosi would become president.
Man that would be owning the Cons pretty hard. LOL.

I mean I'd have to hunker down because Trumpers would probably start rioting, but I'd be laughing my *** off.

Smartness lol

You are pretty dumb dude. You don't even know simple words. Damn dude, maybe take a break, read a children book and come back with something intellectual. I dare you.

It's funny that people think that because the media and others point out all the dumb and bad things Trump does that means they are fake, lol. They have really fallen for his tactics. But then again he won the election based on those tactics. The whole we all suck strategy and I can't suck that bad strategy.

At some point the senate will need to cut its losses and move on. Support for Donald’s removal is already at 52 percent. Once it exceeds 60 percent Mitch will need to decide if keeping trump in the White House is the worth giving the house away for the next generation and losing the senate for at least a few cycles.

I don’t find impeaching pence to be likely. But I’m beginning to think the GOP might seize this moment to finally rid themselves of this turbulent priest (Trump).

Legally, it would need to be cleared vis a vis emoluments, I'd expect. Politically, it could be seen as a bit tacky, unless the other leaders agree that it's an appropriate venue. He's obviously showing off here, and no doubt, hosting the event there shows some bravado on his part. Going forward the resort will be able to claim it hosted the G7, which might raise its profile.

If it's cleared legally, and the other leaders agree with the arrangement, maybe it works. George W. Bush used to host world leaders at his ranch in Texas. I wouldn't otherwise have a strong opinion, though it's pretty much expecting everyone to go along with Trump's schtick as being somewhat of a show-off.

This was a lot of words to say you're generally OK with Trump's political grift so long as he doesn't get in trouble for it.

Bush holding an event at his ranch doesn't have much to do with this considering he wasn't lining his pockets from it.

That's the legal question on emoluments. I'm not an expert on it. I'm assuming WH counsel is. To me, it's a question of legality and of political appropriateness. It's not "grift" per se. Is Trump lining his pockets? Do you know if the resort going to make a bundle on this?

If awarding your own company a contract isn't grift that word has lost all meaning. I mean, come on.

As for the legal question of emoluments, it's incredibly straightforward.

"No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State."

To what degree Trump properties will make a profit from this event actually has no bearing on whether or not it violates this clause. As president you can't accept any money from a foreign government entity.

What the heck do you even mean by that? There is no legal way to clear emoluments. I mean, the Constitution specifies that they should be cleared by Congress but when the President refuses to do that as this one so often has, the only remedy is impeachment.

The WH counsel will not tell YOU that it's against the Constitution but it clearly is. If he has told Trump that, which he would but not that Trump would ask, and Trump does it anyway what do you suppose the remedy is?

So, @Catchall, while there isn't a way to legally clear emoluments, there is a government office of ethics whose opinions government employees are supposed to follow. That's the reason, for example, that Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Mueller probe... the ethics people told him he needed to.

And here's what the former director of this office of government ethics has to say about this.

Funny how you always claim that I'm triggered yet you are always the one talking about me. Always. If I had my way, which I asked asked of your obsessive phycotic ***, you'd never quote me again. I've asked you more than once but your addicted to me. You really are.

Just to prove it. I bet you can't go a month without quoting me or insulting me through other posters. I'm fine with it in the Jazz threads but just to prove that you're not some obsessive phycotic(which right now you are) I challenge you to get help(Stalkers Anonymous maybe) that you seriously need and quit quoting me or talking about me. Just for a month. I'll do the same. It's easy for me because you're just so weird I never have a reason to quote you. Personally you creep me out.

So starting now... Please control your addiction. One month no mention of me.
