Clock malfunction in blazers game

did you guys see marshmallow pull Rudy's Jersey no call, not huge or anything but bad reffing no doubt.

No they weren’t
All those other missed calls are completely meaningless. Dame getting the goal tend no call is the only call (no call) that mattered in the entire game. Hezonja’s 20 fouls don’t matter, Mitchell and Bojan getting no calls doesn’t matter, when the game is on the line, that’s the only call that matters.

He flat out two hand yanked him in the first half by the jersey and Melo got the offensive board and put up a shot which Mario cleaned up... 3-4 point swing right there. The goal tend was bad and the officials were clearly not on their game last night but Portland needs to call the eff down.

The refs missed another big problem in the game last night. The clock didn't tick down for an entire blazers possession. That would have cut more time off the clock and maybe Dame wouldn't even have had that last attempt. That officiating crew needs to be fired
They were bad but have you noticed how many clock issues we have at home... it’s like every game... sometimes a couple times a game... I think the timekeeper has the Steve Brown contract where you can’t get fired no matter how awful you are at the job.

I agree that I feel that we have a pretty good share of clock problems at home, but I'd just like to say how incredibly impressed I am with NBA time keepers in general, including the Jazz crew. I've kept clock at games myself a number of times, and the accuracy involved (from watching slo-mo replays) in the NBA is just astonishing.

The Hezonja travel no call leading to a Trent 3 doesn't matter either. No impact at all

This.
I logged in to post this.

Fouls you can argue all day by both teams, what if they called this, what if he called that. That travel and Melo's travel in front of the Jazz bench (dragged his pivot foot) are on a similar level of a call as a goaltend IMO.

It’s amazing. It goes back at least 10 years. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a clock malfunction on the road, yet we have them regularly. And every time the officials go talk to them and that same guy has that puzzled look on his face. It must be some kind of skimming scheme the Millers have set up to squeeze out more advertising dollars. We must get a bigger cut of nationally televised dollars, too, because it seems to happen more on those games.

Like right after the tip too... like if there was anytime to be ready to hit the button that would be it.

Does that person have another role or job... it feels like something maybe u could practice and not screw up constantly... we had a malfunction in a playoff game years ago... I think I remember Tom Chambers getting an extra 8-10 seconds or something.

ROTFL

The notion that the Brazers were robbed is so ridiculous and stupid. It’s part of the game. It happens all the time. The Blazers have only themselves to blame. They were up big and let us back in the game. They let Mitchell simply make a bee line straight to the basket and then after everything missed a wide open corner three, and one of their players decided to go ape nuts and get himself ejected on a none call that was a tickytac foul at best Blazers players should be disappointed but then acted like babies. It was sad really.

When I played D1 we had an official timekeeper, but the refs had a box on their waistband that could control the clock as well. The inbounding official was also supposed to start the clock as well so there is a redundancy. Their whistles also stop the clock. Pretty sure the NBA uses the same system.

That's what I read, the "Precision Time" system, but it's confusing because in that controversial game in Phoenix the ref blew his whistle but the clock ran for several seconds afterwards. Either the system isn't being used all the time, or it is malfunctioning. Is there a labor/job-security issue at play? Pushback from the time-keepers guild or something? It's beyond me how these things are an issue.
