All Aboard the 2019-2020 Trans UJ Express Championship Trolley

This actually needs to be shouted from the rooftops and really needs its own thread. Or its own media campaign and I-15 billboard. It seems like one of those things we'll be all blasé about before the fact and then after a serious *** kicking, think "oh, yeah, I guess this series exposed that perhaps we should have another rim protector." Can anyone imagine the onslaught that will happen when Bradley checks in to the game? Or the fact that they will target Rudy, and with them shooting that much at the rim, he's going to have multiple games of minutes limited by foul trouble? Yeah, more time for TB. Get Udoh on this roster yesterday.

@NUMBERICA I need some anger here.
Yeah, I’m kinda over this season? IDK. I’ll watch games when it’s convenient but I got better things to do and so does DL, evidently. That’s probably not fair.

I’ll cross my fingers for Udoh or something.

3 of the top 13 offenses belong to teams who aren't going to be in the playoffs. Also, 13 is kind of a weird number to use. Almost like he was going for a desired result with the numbers.

Defense is definitely our concern though. Our success/failure at getting stops is going to determine how far we go because our offense is legit one of the best in the NBA. At the start of the season our defense didn't look like it had lost much of a step. We were in the 105-107 DRtg range. Recently we've been in the 110-112 range. Not sure what happened but the focus and execution hasn't been there. In reality I think our defense is probably more of a 107 DRtg defense. But we need to lock back in on that end.
My eyeballs tell me that we’ve slipped when it comes to staying in front of the ball. Our on-ball defense has been downright putrid in several games.

So you're going for entertainment effect with your sense of urgency on this, rather than reality?
It's both. I throw out Udoh's name because one would imagine that situation could lend to applying some pressure to get something done, even if just a buyout. Obviously there are lots of variables and being able to get him isn't a sure thing, but there are a number of options out there that aren't sure things... but between the trade deadline and free agency, if you've got like 8-9 different options that all would have a 25% likelihood of being able to happen, then striking out on all of them indicates there's lack of urgency about the situation.

The Jazz went 21-7 over their last 28 games. Looking at the schedule, I could see us going 20-8 or 19-9 over the remaining 28 games.

Expected losses would be: @BOS, @LAL, @DAL, @SA, @POR, @OKC (1x), maybe one of the NOLA/MEM and 1-2 other home losses, e.g., SA/HOU on B2B, TOR, LAC. We might win an extra 1 or 2 of those games, but could also take a sneaky loss along the way.

Jazz are favored in 9 of the next 10 games. If we can win 8 of them, we'll be in good shape. We need to be 44-20 or 43-21 at the end of that stretch.

We should then go 8-4 over the following 12 games, which would put us at 52-24 or 51-25.

The last 6 games of the season are tough, and we could lose 2 or 3 of them. So that would put us in the 54 - 56-win range.

We absolutely want the Clippers and Rockets to end up in the 4/5 matchup, so that the Clippers, Lakers and Rockets are in the other draw.

Whether we get the 2 seed or 3 seed matters less. I think we'll beat Denver in a series either way 4 - 2. We just need some time to prep for them. It's all about slowing Jokic and Murray and getting our share of rebounds.

I agree. This same group of players has done a much better job of doing these things earlier in the season though. I think it's more of a focus/effort issue than a situation where they just can't do it. Ya know? Hopefully they come out of the All Star break with new focus on that end.

We won 50 games last year with what many here felt was a piss poor team lead by Rubio at point guard! We better win 55+ games to justify all the dumb trades we made and letting go Rubio, Favors and a few others!

Let’s hope Mike Conley is leading the way on that. He was a darling for the advanced stats crowd last year on defense. Seems almost inconceivable to me at this point.

Integrating into Snyder's system takes work and time. You also risk alienating players. And given the Davis and Green scenarios, the grass might not always be greener. That's why Ekpe makes the most sense to me.

I'm still on board despite the overwhelming negative attitude on this board.

We are slumping but we will pick it up again. This is still the best Snyder team and probably still the best team since Stockton and Malone days.

Surprisingly, I'm with ya on this

I knew we'd slump at some point but i didnt think it would be this long or this bad defensively. A likely first round matchup with Houston probably doesnt help the jazz fan mindset at the moment. I honestly think I'd rather play any other team.

But there is still some season left to play to play. We've hit rock bottom, we can only go up from here.

Truth. Just a matter of when they put it together. The talent here is obscene.

Currently watching the Bucks playing the Raptors, man I wish the Jazz played like the Bucks. They're well team oriented and play well together. I sure hope the Jazz rebound tomorrow against the Celtics.

I felt like the jazz did play that way during that long stretch without Conley

Tbh I think it needs to hurt more to cause the proper amount of remorse to create enough motivation. Im sure that's not popular, but it's my take. Last time I felt this way about the team is right before sloan retired.

Rockets lose to the Knicks yesterday, Nuggets lose to the Warriors tonight.

For all the crap the Jazz get for just beating crap teams, at least they beat them.

Well, we still have to beat the Knicks tomorrow. Anyone following the Dolan/Spike Lee controversy?

Yeah, sounds like Dolan is one of the stupidest people ever. And it sounds like Spike Lee is taking the situation very personally.

I’m amazed that Dolan chooses to die on these hills of public feuds with everyone in the Knicks community.
